I am unsure of what I could possibly say that I haven't as yet when it comes to Lauren Blakely's books. The woman knows how to write sex with heart. Nothing is ever gratuitous or by mistake. Her characters are so true, so real and have such powerful emotions, you often forget you aren't part of the story! And let me tell you, Nights With Him, is no exception. Thank goodness.This is the love story of Jack Sullivan, sex toy mogul, and Michelle Milo, psychologist who deals primarily with intimacy issues. After a very lustful and sexy night, it is a huge shock when Michelle greets her newest client the next day and it turns out to be Jack! Once it's decided she can't treat him, it doesn't stop them from deciding upon a 30 day 'experiment' of sorts, whereby they will enjoy each other in the bedroom but never venture into a real relationship. Both have been burned before. She was in love with her good friend for 10 years and the love remained unrequited. He lost his fiancee only a year before and had yet to really move on. They both have huge locks upon their hearts and aren't really sure anyone will ever have the right key.But as time goes on and both enjoy the nights as much as the daytime dalliances and playful banter via text and email, can they really just remain sex buddies and not want more? They fit so well together. They listen to each other while relaxing in bed or by the tv. What I love is that Michelle has been so open to Jack sexually, letting him dominate in the bedroom, yet she is still her own woman. She never judges and he appreciates the tender moments when his heart doesn't feel all that lonely anymore. She is as fierce and challenging as he is and to watch them together is truly perfection. Even though both are a bit skittish, they can't deny the growing attraction between them that has nothing to do with the lustful nights they share.The sex scenes are off the charts hot. Talk about panty melting. Mine were ready to combust!!! Lauren Blakely is the queen of squirm :) She knows how to describe intimately, what her characters are experiencing but it is never over the top. You don't even feel as if you are invading their privacy. Sure you may blush a bit but you can't help but stay in the moment. It is an acquired skill to make the reader flushed, one that the author has mastered like no other.The journey that Jack and Michelle take to that hopeful HEA is fraught with conflict, desire and the overwhelming need to protect those that are closest to us. Although Jack had a different kind of upbringing than Michelle did, both are loyal to a fault to both family and friends alike. It is that quality that sets apart these books. The ever expanding crew of characters truly stand up for one another and love deeply. I love seeing all the members of the Seductive Series (and standalones as well by the author) make appearances in this book. It is a trademark of Lauren Blakely and one that I always look forward to. They reaffirm how much they all care for one another and that they will always have each others back. Jack's love of his sister Casey and Michelle's love of her brother Davis simply makes me smile. Sure they might be sexy, crazed, nyphomaniacs by night (!) but by day they are truly wonderful people. They love like no one else. And what stood out most for me was their selflessness. Probably one of the most caring couples I've ever read about.I cannot recommend this book and series enough. In fact every one of Lauren Blakely's books has been special to me and her writing just gets better and better and her stories capture my heart and don't ever want to let go.This is not only one of her sexiest stories to date, but it also has the most heart. Jack Sullivan embodies all that is wanted in a man. His creator truly nailed it when she made him up in her mind. Sure he has faults but overall he is the kind of man we all want to have cherish us. He was protective, attentive and devoted to her in his own way. He was also a naughty boy that loved pushing boundaries and exploring with Michelle. But underneath it all, he was broken, racked with guilt and had difficulty expressing love.Michelle really surprised me with her sassiness, spunk, sexiness, and humor. But she also had her issues that held her back due to her history of unrequited love and her understanding of complex relationship problems due to the nature of her job.Together they were playful, hot, compatible, and a perfect match. But they had obstacles to overcome, including themselves. They also had a deadline and some external drama affecting them and providing further challenges, mystery, and suspense. Their own fears cripple them at times and prevent them from giving the other what they need. And it will take self discovery and patience to determine what choices would lead to least amount of regrets.This book can easily be read as a stand alone, but I enjoyed getting glimpses or mentions of old friends like her brother Davis, Jill, Sutton, Reeve, Clay, Julia and Nate. I always like to catch the little characters cross overs and see their fun interactions in Lauren's books. I loved his feisty, outspoken sister, Casey and caught tease of maybe an attraction toward Nate...hhhmm the possibilities.This book was sultry and steamy. They had a very healthy and fulfilling sexual life together that started strong and did not wane. But there was also romance, drama, secrets, and emotional conflict. It was told in Michelle and Jack's points of view with a chapter here and there by a couple of others. It was humorous, passionate, intriguing, and emotional while it dealt with the power of love to heal damaged hearts and provide redemption. I was not sure what to expect from Michelle's book because we really did not know that much about her since previously she was always the one in the background giving out advice. That being said, I felt like this one was a little bit longer than needed to get the story across. I love this particular narrator, so I think that's what helped me be able to keep listening to the story. I feel bad saying this, but I just feel some parts could have been taken out, and the story still would have moved along nicely!
