Review: Excellent book - Fine Review: Delightful, gorgeous & sensitive - A beautiful book full of startling images and a frank, fair portrait of a flawed man. Brett’s analysis of the work is articulate and informed, reflecting his own stature as an engraver and educator. It’s a labour of love for the medium and respect for the artist. Delightful, start to finish.

Such imaginative illustrations
I came across this whilst browsing for new books in the art section and was instantly drawn to the name Clifford Webb since I have 2 of his books, my favourite is one I picked up in the Charing Cross Road a few years back 'Animals from Everywhere' which features a private zoo and the most adorable illustrations by Clifford Webb, including my favourite - a seahorse. I also have (found in a shop in Hay on Wye) a 1939 edition of 'The Gentle Art of Walking', published by Blackie, again with superb illustrations by Clifford Webb. This new book by Simon Brett is a joy for me since in it he has put together a huge collection of the illustrations of Clifford Webb, it is a magnificent book and one I am going to treasure.
