Beyond Lyme Disease: Healing the Underlying Causes of Chronic Illness in People with Borreliosis and Co-Infections

Readable, comprehensive, Lyme Disease and insect coinfection book,
Will update my review, after finishing this book, but have been amazed just by reading parts, especially mold toxicity section. This is the most thorough, practical information I have seen explaining how to survive indoor mold and water damaged sick buildings. In addition to discussing Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker's complex medical treatment of sick building syndrome, she discusses the relative effectiveness of cholestyramine, activated charcoal, and clay neurotoxin binders. She discusses diffusing essential oils, ozonation and HEPA filtering with activated charcoal, to decontaminate water damaged buildings. She also discusses mold contamination in automobiles and the ERMI DNA test for determining relative mold contamination in buildings. One additional recommendation I would add for mold sensitive readers is remove carpeting from footwell of your automobiles. If you do not believe this is worth doing, try the following experiment:Obtain a mold culture dish from the local hardware store, some sterile cotton swabs and sterile saline solution from a drug store. Wet the sterile coton swab with sterile saline and roll it across carpet, then across mold culture dish medium. You may be stunned to see what grows in, in five days.Your automobile carpet is a mold magnet and your automobile can become a mold incubator, when it is parked in a shadeless parking lot, with windows closed. It is especially difficult to keep carpeting dry, when snow and slush are being tracked in and freeze at night, in winter. With all of the windows closed and the heater blower or air conditioner running, your automobile can become a gas chamber, if toxic mold is inside. Aspergillus spores are small, light and can easily become airborne, in a slight wind current. Aspergillus molds are almost always present in wet, water damaged indoor environments. She provides links and references to many websites, studies and products.Unlike some of the best books discussing Lyme Disease, Bartonella, Babesia, Ehrlichia, nutritional and hormonal deficiency, she provides a thorough index. In addition she has incredibly survived Lyme Disease, mold toxicity, adrenal fatigue and many of the other afflictions she discusses. I do not see any evidence of brain fog in her books, although she has mentioned brain fog was one of her problems previously.Ms. Strasheim explained that addressing adrenal fatigue was almost as important for her as eliminating Lyme disease, Bartonella and Babesia infections.Connie compassionately and insightfully wrote this book, so brain fogged readers can read it.Connie wrote an entire chapter discussing "electro-smog," and how to reduce exposure to biological effects of electromagnetic radiation from cell phones, computers, photocopiers, etc. This section is extensively referenced. I am still skeptical that reducing electromagnetic radiation exposure is required to recover from the insect transmitted infections, since I know people who recovered from Lyme disease, without any effort to reduce these exposures.Connie explains adverse effects to cells begin with 0.2 milligauss of magnetic wave exposure, but safety guidelines in North America allow 833 milligauss exposure continuously. She purchased a 3 axis RF field strength meter and gaussmeter, which she used to find a lower radiation neighborhood to live in.Steven Sponaugle

EXCEPTIONAL PEARLS ON CHRONIC SICKNESS AND TBD
UP FRONT--THIS IS FILLED WITH CANDY AND GREAT IDEAS, GOOD INFO FOR EVERYONE, JUST DO NOT EXPECT TO HAVE EVERY WORD FIT YOU--THE BOOK IS FOR MORE THAN ONE PERSON AND ONE IDEOLOGY.In the past, I amusingly had a positive review of this author devalued because I was a friend of this author. Do people really think I have time for friendships with lazy people who believe and do the SAME THING for TBD and chronic disease over a decade? I LIKE HER BECAUSE SHE IS TRYING TO REALLY, REALLY HELP STRANGERS!DOES ANYONE WHO LOOKS AT THIS BOOK KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO WRITE THESE BOOKS? AND THIS ONE IS POSSIBLY THE BEST, IF SITTING ON BASE OF THE OTHERS. I WAS A BIT STUNNED.I like her because she actually adds and as is typical--at immense sacrifice.Frankly, as I was reading this book last night I was a bit shocked at some pearls AND THE PROFOUND RANGE OF IDEAS.As usual, and why I like her material, she does not play Lyme of CFS or FM POPE. She looks for best in 5-6 genre's of healing and tries to find top 5 in that space of knowledge and offers it to you. And you can use what you like. I never agree 100% with any book, including mine after six weeks. And as one reviewer wisely remarked this is not just an expanded, new angle of tick infection pearls. It is a very high quality HEALTH BOOK FOR THE WELL, AND FOR ALL WITH CHRONIC DISEASE.YES, I AM A FRIEND OF THE AUTHOR--of course--SHE IS A WOMAN OF SUCH LOVE, FORGIVENESS, BRAVERY, AND CARE FOR THE SUFFERING, SHE KEEPS TRYING TO LOVE YOU, THE READER, AND THE SUFFERING BY STUDY, STUDY, STUDY AND INTERVIEWS WITH ANY ONE WITH SOME HELP. She could have an easier life and more income by doing other things. Like all involved in tick infections.GO CONNIE. THANKS AGAIN, FOR THE SWEAT AND SACRIFICE. BRAVO.

Very interesting read of the many, many problems associated in the Lyme disease community. Too many remedies to really point to any one being the best! It's very difficult doing any exercises because of the extreme fatigue associated with Lyme disease.

Great guide through a difficult disease.
I found Beyond Lyme disease the most comprehensive book on the subject I have come across. The author gives many links to web sites that she has found useful, recommends other authors works, and brings a difficult and often confusing disease into focus. As the Canadian Medical community is pretty well useless on this subject, this book is an excellent guide in a world where self navigation is the only way to health. A full five star rating from this reader. Foxy Lady.
