I got this as a gift for a friend who needed one for medicinal purposes. So far he's loving it and it has made his life much easier. If you're looking for an affordable but sturdy mortar & pestle, this is the way to go.Even though most wooden mortar & pestles I looked at were cheaper, I would not suggest buying one unless you're crushing something very soft and don't care about cross-contamination, ease of cleaning, or durability. Porcelain or stone is the only way to roll.

Our dog doesn't like to take pills so we have to grind them up all the time. This is small and does the job just find. I also have some dried herbs that I think it would work great to grind up a few of them. Satisfied with the product.

Good product. Works great. Item is on the small side and can only hold a small amount of spices. It holds enough for a meal sized amount of spices but not big enough for a crab boil size meal.
