How Visual Leaders Generate Exeptional Engagement, Productivity, and Results
This richly illustrated full-color book explains how to use a powerful array of visual tools to:* Understand your organization and its parts as a whole;* Enable collaborative thinking, innovation, and planning;* Align vision, strategy, & action for high performance;* Communicate the organization's purpose, direction, and story. In my work as a facilitator, I have used David Sibbet's methods in many settings and organizations. Yet this book opened valuable new vistas for assisting leaders to focus the potential of their people on a common purpose.Four examples of practical inspiration:* David demonstrates a variety of ways to use simple diagrams like a matrix grid to support teams in option review and setting priorities (see page 117);* He adds engrossing examples of leaders who have used visual templates and maps to guide organizational planning (see the use of the matrix grid in a multi-year portfolio planning process on page 132);* The Sibbet/Le Saget Sustainable Organization Model presents a thought-provoking overview of the stages, challenges, and aspirations of organizations in different stages of development. Reviewing this one-page map produces instant individual "Ahas!" and can stimulate rewarding team discussion of where the organization is and what it needs to do next to reach its desired destination;* A comprehensive summary of New Media options is encapsulated in a five-page pro & con chart that enables readers to sort out the use of these options based on their intention, experience, and the strengths and weaknesses of each media option. Great guide to the stunning array of tools that is now evolving!A word on the format: Each two-page spread combines sketches, diagrams, and text to deliver its message and invite application. The simplicity of the drawings plays against the sophistication of organizational development wisdom that permeates each page. If you are new to the use of visual tools in organizational settings, you may feel inspired or even overwhelmed by this cornucopia. Jump in and experiment with what appeals to you. You will find this a mind-stretching venture with great pay-off for the teams and organizations you lead and serve.PS This book is the third of a trilogy that includes Visual Meetings and Visual Teams. Each book illustrates the application of visual tools to its subject, demonstrating how to reliably generate exceptional engagement, productivity, and results in meetings, teams, and organizations.

Autobiography VS Academic.
One Davids better books, good information on the subject of Visual Thinking and Leadership, from creating mental models, frameworks, graphic facilitation, storymaps, and also touches on Graphic Templates which I'm most interested in. the book assumes the reader has some experience in facilitation and leadership and some understanding of visual teams and meeting from Davids other books. The only issue is the structure of the writing style. It seems to be just Davids style to write more autobiographically rather than academically. I have to do the same mental reverse leaps to understand the principle of Visual Leaders the same way I did with his other works.Perhaps its conditioning, but I'm just used to the normal text book style of learning any profession, skill, or trade. 1- a brief example 2-the underlying theory, 3-Step by step example 4-practice examples and 5-the Case Study. like his other works, it's written in the exact opposite, the Case study is first(his or another Grove members personal experience) taking up most of the chapter, a picture of the example, a brief paragraph on why, and it may or may not have a step by step tutorial. the visual thinking community is still somewhat young, David is its founding father, but I'm still waiting for an approach that treats it like a craft and profession rather than a memoir. The information is there, If one is already a seasoned leader it may be easier to take bits and pieces to add to ones palette, but it just needs to be made digestible for "aspiring" leaders.

Sibbet is a master at the visual art
David Sibbet is masterful in the art of visual facilitation and Visual Leaders is another testimony to his talent. With words and visuals he masterfully explains the tools effective leaders can use to create a legacy. This is a book that serves both as a reader and a tool. I already find myself referencing different parts of the book at different times.David is a creative mastermind in developing the visual tools and he continues to be alluring and simple in execution. This is a book both as a reference and as tool for leaders of at any level . . . from leaders of corporate conglomerates to small business owners, to leaders of small groups and to leaders of large associations. This book is a must have for many different reasons . . . David allows you to be the creative genius in your own domain, he is generous in sharing his skill and an expert on passing that skill onto others. This is truly a tool filled resource!

Visual Leaders, Systems-Thinking and Transformation
Is systems-thinking a prerequisite to being a transformational leader? Most problems we're facing are due to unintended consequences or a limited view of how systems work. You can't change a system with tinkering, but by changing the way people envision and vision together. Many good leaders have good mental models. How do you get a group of people in the vision, the image, so that all can be aligned? Once a mental map is conveyed and understood, it becomes a piece of graphic language. A key to Visual Leadership is having an awareness of mental maps and how to use them. If you really want to get serious about systems-thinking, you have to get visual.Visual Leaders completes the journey of Visual participation to Visual Leading, a critical new leadership capacity that creates shared understanding and value, alignment, and commitment to meaningful action.

One of the best books I own...
I am not one for blowing a trumpet for books, but this is an absolute gem of a book. I have owned for over three years and it is the one book I use again and again for comms and presentations. It's clear and unambiguous style means you can dip in, be inspired and then go on your way. Absolutely love it and recommend it all the time to my fellow IT colleagues. Many a project overview on A0 has been inspired from this book.

A must-read and must-use guide to facilitation
David Sibbet is the clear leader and authority to facilitating visual meetings. It's not just a review of visual/graphic templates but it's also an interesting introduction to management theory and practice. Highly recommended; I have in soft and hard copies just so I can be sure to always have it with me. Just back from Barcelona where I used three of the strategic visioning tools (In the Movies, Prioritisation Mandala and Game Planning) to achieve a very successful outcome.

Inspiring visual ideas
I am working on getting meaniful, creative ideas when relating images/smartart + pictures to the messages I want to covey when creating some presentations In this sense, this book is really inspiring! It also gives us ideas on how visuals can help us in different kinds of situations, for example: to enhace meetings, have better decision sessions, use graphic storymaps and how we can make people "see" what we mean . The book is colorful, well organized and easy/enjoyable to read. I actually felt that reading it helped my own ideas to come up to life! Really appreciated!
