One word: amazing.
This katana from handmade sword is really an incredible work of art. Shipping was lightning fast. I bought the cherry blossom design. Now into the critique. The craftsmanship is beautiful. The blade came out of the saya very sharp. The packaging was some of the best ive ever seen from an amazon seller. Cardboard tube into cardboard tube into a box with packing material. Other amazon sellers could really learn from these guys. The price soeaks for itself, honestly i couldve been fooled into believing that its a 1000 dollar katana. Beautiful showpiece, would recommend buying a stand for display.

HM.Sword
The blade has some cutting marks like hair scuffs that look large and not finished nor polished. The round box is missing a white plastic cap from factory but it is okay, but the wood scabbard is cracked and damaged upon unboxing. It is a good value when it is on the 50$ range compared to the defects. Give this a chance it is well put together with some defects to be expected of course.

Very sharp
Very sharp, was carefully cleaning the grease off with a tissue and the blade rubbed against my finger and cut it open. I got blood on the bag it is stored in.

Mistutomoe
My first katana arrived well-packed and well-greased, though with a very small blemish at the boshi where I assume contact was made when first inserted into the saya for storage. The blade is sharp with a near-mirror finish, and the hamon, while subtle and irregular, is elegant in its own right. However, after close examination under blacklight I must say that it does appear to be at least partially brushed...The saya is impeccably finished in gloss black with a solid display knot. Every feature of the koshirae is fitted and true, with no wiggle or looseness. As I have never felt dry ray skin before, I cannot tell if the samehada is real, but it is definitely not artificial (though I wish we could make do without the sea creatures, despite how you may feel about poor ol' Steve Irwin.)My biggest complaint (and it is admittedly the fault of my own taste): the texture of the tsuba, though beautiful and ornate, in the pattern of the mistutomoe with raised blossoms and other fine linear details on the prominent surfaces, makes for an very uncomfortable grip when held tightly. The edges are somewhat toothed, not unlike a dull saw on my knuckles. Also, the interior surfaces of the tsuba seem very rough, as it was obviously broken from a mold, and I should think to bring a fine file to those course edges to give a more finished look to it.Other than those issues, I look forward to cutting many tatami mats with my closest friends and family.

No clay tempered
It said that was clay tempered but it wasn't. I tried to etch the blade and nothing appeared of it, and just a bit of sandpaper and the "hamon" is gone, it was made with some type of brushing. also the Yokote just disapeared anter I use a 1500 grit sandpaper to remove rust that formed after trying to make the hamon pop with acid.So I don't know, its something cool and cheap, but if I would like to pay a bit more at least knowing that I can get a real hamon out of it, at least with acid

Would buy again...hands down. Bless
Great sword, nice and tight everything. Came on time, wrll 2days before last day deadline...Ito was glued and end fugi. This shinken was more iaido, when came, aka blunted, not really just realy dull. I like my swords hair sharp... inside saya sits a lil off down when doing noto, aka return sword from draw... all in all cant beat money or tightnes, cuts great would order again... bless

Looks pretty cool. Not sharp at all
Quality is about as expected for price. Looks pretty cool. Not sharp at all, my dullest kitchen knife is sharper than this blade. Over all, for the price... it's okay.

First of katana collection.
My first katana to start my collection. Based purchase on user reviews of seller. Very affordable, and delivery arrived 2 days sooner then scheduled. Delivered in cloth wrap, inside sturdy cardboard tube, inside unmarked boxed. Was able to find a design I liked from multiple choices available. Katana had heavy amount of oil/wax on the blade. But read that this was due to prevent blade rusting, and should keep on blade until able to clean and reoil blade myself. One negative, the blade is slightly curved, bent, to the right about a few inches from the tip, when looking down the blade from the handle. Overall, I like it and will continue to add to my collection. Just unfortunate about the bend.
