Good guide for Cottage Garden with Roses
I was very happy to find that a professional okays the planting of other flowers around roses rather than just having them sitting in lonely positions surrounded by bare dirt in formal rose garden. The author did, however, spend more time talking about individual roses than he did about the mechanics/care needed for success in the garden beds in mixing the plantings. I'm glad I read the book.

Great book for rose companion plants
I have not had time to completely read the book cover to cover, but so far it s fantastic. The book gives you many options in referencing each type of rose class. It offers many types of plants for companions. Only thing to take into consideration is, does that recommended plant grow in your area.

Worst Roses Ever
I am a long time grower of roses. I well remember the old Jackson and Perkins. When I heard that they had been bought by Park Seed I was very reluctant to order from them because of some bad experience with Park Seed. This year I placed an order for 3 roses to see if they were good quality. Only 1 of the three was anything that I would feel was acceptable. I called and was promised that they would resend with a product that I would like. The reorder was worst than the first. As long as Park Seed owns them I will never reorder. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM YOU WILL GET BURNED

Don't buy from jackson and perkins
Tiny unhappy baby plant starts, not nicely rooted and vigorous as advertised. 5 tiny plants packed sideways and up side down in a giant box with tons of styrofoam packing peanuts...gross! I paid $60 for about $20 worth of plant material. Going to have to grow these plants in their pots for months before they will be appropriately sized for planting in the ground...and by that time it'll be winter! Not happy at all!

good guide to integrating roses
This is an excellent guide to integrating roses into a garden with other plants instead of keeping them in a separate location in a bare, mulched rose bed. Well written text and good pictures.Shame on the publisher, though, for such poor copyediting! Next time pay a good copyeditor or proofreader and spare yourself the embarrassment of roses "baring their hips" (bearing, perhaps?) and "while your nose is ravaging the blooms" (really? RAVAGING?) and miscellaneous omitted words.

If I could give zero stars I would.
If I could give zero stars I would. I purchased bare root rose bush earlier this year. Planted per instructions and it sprout only few leaves. Eventually it lost all of its leaves turned totally brown and died. Jackson and Perkins refused to replace the rose bush. Big mistake buying bare roots from them and I will never buy from them again. Best bet is to buy potted roses from a local nursery or home depot which offer a replacement and avoid Jackson and Perkins.
