Get the classic tales without the antiquated language

Thhis gives the Tales a completely different meaning. One can actually understand the magnificence of them now that they are in understandable language.

i usually do not write reviews. THIS IS VERY EASY TO READ. It brings back the joy of this classic tale.Very easy to follow.. Nice size paperback.I recommend this very highly. look forward to other items from this publisher.

I purchased this for two reasons:One I love studying the Middle Ages and this book is an incredible resource for that, and two because I was taking The History of Western Civilizations: Prehistorical Through the Renaissance at USU and it was required reading. This translation lacks the beautiful poetic style that Chaucer originally wrote in, but the prose style made it very readable and still had enough meat to get a very good understanding of Chaucer's intent fast. This Author used a translation style that did not loose or risk changing the intended message that Chaucer was attempting to convey which was essential for my paper that I had to write at the end of my class. For those who need to or want to read the Middle English that Chaucer originally wrote in, this is not for you, if you want the poetic style that Chaucer wrote in, this is not for you, if you want and easy to read and flowing "novel" style of writing in modern day English-this is your book.

If you ever tried to read Chaucer and ended up throwing the book at the wall, this is for you. It suddenly All Makes Sense. Great fun, really.
