The Art of Falling: Freestyle Slalom Skating Paperback – June 1, 2014

An easy read which will arm anyone interested in freestyle slalom with the tools needed to get underway. Includes in depth and easy to understand explanations. I will be referring to this book again and again.

I didn’t know much about slalom. This book opened my perspective and gave me an idea about getting into it, the material, how to approach the discipline...Highly recommended

This book is a great entry point into learning freestyle slalom. It gets to the heart of what needs to be learned to do the basic tricks. My only critique is that is should have come with an accompanying video, either cd/dvd or internet link, to show the critical phases of what Naomi is describing in her book. Unfortunately, some of the moves are difficult to visualize and a video showing it would have clarified the points she is making. Otherwise a well written primer book. I haven't seen anything posted on the internet by Naomi in many years, so not sure if she is still around skating. Too bad since she is such a great skater and teacher.

Although I am aware of most of the facts and tricks discussed in this book, it was really eye-opening for me, and put things into different perspective.

Enjoyable book full of lots of good facts. The skatefresh app on iTunes has been really helpful as well.

Full of advise and tips ti develope your own style

All the explanations are super clear and I especially enjoyed the section about how to set up your practice to make the most out of it.

Every rollerblader must have!

Even if missing videos and of course present instructor, it's a valuable source of information that could not be found in slalom videos. Must have for all levels.

I was in two minds about whether to buy this book or not. I was already very familiar with Naomi through her excellent YouTube instructional videos, and I couldn't imagine being able to gain any benefit from the written word or even pictures as opposed to video. However I was wrong, and very quickly upon starting to read the book I realise how much I needed the advice she gave in the book. I was already a very experienced freestyle skater, but this book has helped me take things to another level.
