Symphonic Terror - Live At Wacken 2017

My second concert ever: Accept opening for Iron Maiden in the early 80s. Since the early 80s my favorite Accept album had been Restless & Wild (among their many other great albums). That was up until about 4 hours ago, now I am not so sure. Four hours ago as the first thing I did after watching this 2hr blu-ray was watch it again. This could be my new favorite.This concert is at once a kick-@-$-$ heavy metal concert and a moving symphony performance. The first 'movement' consists of Accept playing five of their songs. The second 'movement' features members of Accept (and others) playing six pieces of metal infused classical music in front of the symphony orchestra. The third 'movement' combines Accept and the symphony orchestra to perform Accept songs with all the fire, fury, and magnitude of Wacken.Anyone hesitating due to the absence of Udo needs to get over that. Udo has his own excellent band and Mark Tornillo has taken over with an impressive voice fitting Accept just fine. If anything we now have two great bands supplying with twice the music. Anyone hesitating about the packaging as another reviewer mentioned is simply missing the point. I would buy this again at the same price if it came in a plain brown wrapper. (It is a four-section CD-sized digipak with a 24-page booklet if you must know).The only aspect that could have been better were the blu-ray bonuses. There are two but they are somewhat short and do not detail the involvement from the orchestra side--I would have liked to hear from their point of view. Surely some of them grew up listening to Accept too.Throughout the concert you can see that the band members, as well as members of the orchestra, are really enjoying this concert. IMHO the only band that has any chance of topping this (combining a symphony orchestra with metal) is Kreator.

This is hands down and horns up the very best metal meets orchestra album and concert I've ever heard and seen. The orchestra players are very into what they are doing. Lots of smiles and head banging going on between them all and they accompany the songs quite well. It also helps matters to that effect because of Wolf Hoffmann being a classical style player. A favorite for me was Stalingrad. An already epic and emotive song made even more epic and stirring with the orchestra behind it. Simply amazing!

This show, while great on CD, comes across even better on video. The quality of the video and sound on the blu-ray are fantastic. The band sounds great. The interlude with the Headbanger's Symphony is alone worth the price. It was cool to hear how they did the arrangements on the classical tunes. The Accept songs sound great with the accompaniment of the orchestra. The crowd is huge and is very much into the concert. Fans of metal and especially Accept fans should buy this asap, turn it up loud and enjoy. You won't regret it.

Ad shows large digibook packaging. When arrived was a normal cd size digipak for Blu-Ray/CD set. Musically, awesome

A great mix of Accept and guitarist Wolf Hoffman's classical compositions. Accept sounds great live with the backing orchestra and it works well with Wolf's compositions. I highly recommend it.

Fan inconditionnel d'ACCEPT je peux manquer d'objectivité mais très sincèrement depuis leur renaissance en 2010 avec "Blood of the nations" ... rien à redire, chaque album recèle au moins une pépite ou deux (voire plus) au refrain entêtant !Le mix symphonie/hard/métal n'est pas nouveau pour ACCEPT (souvenez-vous de Métal Heart), et cela a son charme.Par contre pour le prochain album, souhaitons un vrai nouvel album avec de purs nouveaux morceaux.
