The Allen Vizzutti Trumpet Method, Bk 1: Technical Studies

An invaluable book, but I'm starting to find errors and other peculiarities in some of the exercises. For example, the first whole tone study on page 36 goes from a low G to F#. What the heck is going on with that? For a book that's been out for as long as this has and as expensive as it is, I would've expected a bit better. An otherwise fantastic collection of material, but if you're giving this book to a younger student, make sure you catch the mistakes before they start practicing from it!

Indeed, a book for the serious upcoming trumpeter. The goal of this book, as Vizzutti conveys it, is to help the aspiring trumpeter quicken his path towards mastering the instrument, ease of play and crossover from playing someone else's compositions to eloquent improvizational skills. From long notes, lip flexibility skill building exercise, to finger power/flexibility exercises, to scale patterns, to tonguing exercises in EVERY key! A must for the serious trumpeter.If you have fallen in love with the trumpet, this is book for you. If you just like to try the trumpet, this is not a book for you. You must have two important elements when trying this method, they are determination, and patience.Good luck!

I love his creative expertise. I have been playing for almost sevent years and I still go to his first two books to bring my ego down to earth. These books are perfect for a beginner or advanced player. Several of my associates still have trouble when, in a lesson, at speed, they suddenly see a G flat, or an A sharp.... his style is innovative and an excellent method for teaching the complete trumpet and its proper use.

Every trumpet players should include and practice Vizzutti's method along with Arban and Clarke.

Great book for intermediate to advanced trumpeters. Lots of variety of tools to help you be a better player.

Mr. Vizzutti has done a spledid job with Book 1 of his method. Worth the price just for the warmup. For those who don't know much about Allen Vizzuti....He is master trumpet player with much insight to offer both to beginners as well as professionals. Just watch a YouTube video and you will understand his complete control of the trumpet.

Essential study books for any budding trumpet/cornet players

I'm really happy with this book. As a formerly good player returning after several years off, I found I needed a structured approach to practice and particularly to warming up (and down). This method is already working wonders.

Buy all three! Every trumpet/cornet player should include them in their library, and probably most other brass instrument players. A modern, more tonally and rhythically interesting resource of studies and exercises than the legendary Arban. Ignore the 1 star review, it is a comment on the custom's Amazon experience, not the Vizzuitt!

Since I first started taking trumpet seriously, I've done the Vizzutti warm up pretty much every day - it has always worked to 'reset' my chops and get me back into action. This book has a huge amount of great technical studies as well, and used correctly, will enhance your playing experience.

It is a very good exercises book for all players at all levels and combined with the other 2 volumes can make up an excellent training regime.
