A Sanity and Dignity Saver. Great Invention!
Once you figure out how to release the drain mechanism, this is well designed, sanity-saving product. I have adult son with mental and physical disabilities who has developed toileting problems over the past few years. I worry that adult diapers would be a terrible mistake because it would allow him to stop trying to do things "normally." So, we keep this urinal hanging next to the toilet, and he sits/stands as normal, and avoids the dangerous slippery mess of "bad aim." Believe me, we have tried everything imaginable to help him do things "the normal way" over the past 3 years. This ingenious gadget has eliminated multiple daily floor washing/disinfecting. My son really likes the thing, because it gives him the dignity of NOT being the cause of endless floor washing and frustration. Even if you are a loving and patient care-giver; it wears on you. Regarding the drain - the unit I received had no white "lever" on the drain. I hope mine is the "new" design because it works great. It is a blue plug than slides within a clear plastic tube. You push up on the lower end of the blue plug, and it clears an opening for the liquid to drain out of the T-shaped drain spout. I will make a short video (with water!) and add it to my review, for those who receive the same style as I did. I don't know why it wouldn't budge at first, but once it slid open the first time ... it's been a breeze to drain. I will be ordering a few more of these. I might even cut off the bag & half the length of tubing on one of them, simply to use it as an aid to direct the stream into the bowl (and not the floor). My hope is that it will be step toward his re-learning to pee "the regular way."

The Comfort Fit Advantage Urinal System is the best portable urinal out there.
I recently had a motorcycle accident and broke my right leg requiring a rod to be inserted down the length of my tibia. My doctor advised me to not put any weight on it for at least two months until the bones mended enough to start physical rehabilitation. This meant that I spent most of my time either in bed or with my leg raised and resting at chest height while sitting on the couch. This made it difficult getting up to go the the bathroom, especially at night. I was using a walker to get around but it was painful to move the leg to get out of bed or up and off the couch whenever I had to go. (I am 63 years old and need to go a few more times than when I was younger.) I started out using a handheld urinal that would hold 1000 cc since that is what I used while in the hospital. In the hospital, I had a nurse who would empty it after one or two uses. When I got home, my wife took over that job but in a few days her attitude changed, especially at 2 or 3 in the morning, Even though the handheld urinals are designed to use in bed, it was awkward to use them whenever they got more than half full. I ordered the Comfort Fit Advantage Urinal System and after the first use in bed I realized this was the only way to go. The bladder holds 2000 cc's, which allowed me to use it throughout the night without having to empty it. (My wife said that it was the best purchase I have made since the accident.) It is well made, portable, holds twice as much as most handheld urinals, the bladder has a build in valve that makes it spill proof and locks in the smell. It is as easy to drain and rinse as any handheld urinal. In bed, when it got close to full, I didn't worry about spilling it like I did when using a handheld urinal. The soft comfort ring around the lip made it a lot more comfortable to use than a hard plastic opening that most handhelds have. I would highly recommend the Comfort Fit Advantage Urinal System to anyone who needs to use a handheld urinal for any length of time. Well worth the money.

Reusable Portable Male Comfort Fit Advantage
My wife helps as a caregiver for someone who is confined to a wheelchair and bed. We have purchased a few of the Reusable Portable Male Comfort Fit Advantage Urinal System in the last couple of years and have learned a few things that may be of interest. First of all the product works well for bed use and serves its purpose and well worth the purchase. You have to consider it a disposable item after a certain amount of usage and how often you choose to deodorize the system. The collection bag is what we have found to fail and it usually develops a leak in the drain or bag seams. First suggestion you can purchase a comparable urinal bag for a few dollars and buy a plastic barbed nipple (5/16โ I believe but not sure) from home improvement center and cut the tubing on the bag and splice the new bag in place using the nipple. We tried to find the best urinal bags that had the same size tubing. Note using hot water to heat up the tubing helps in inserting the nipple into the tubing. When that bag fails just replace it again. Remember you only need to cut away the vinyl tubing on one end of the barbed nipple. If you want extra insurance just hang the bag inside a simple plastic bucket and if it develops a leaks it saves a cleanup. Second suggestion after numerous bag changes my wife asked if there is a container to drain into rather than a bag. Well there is and now we changed the bag out for a plastic container made for this purpose. ConvaTec Night Drainage Container Set and Urocare 4100 Reusable Night Drain Bottle 2000cc or two units that come to mind. In both cases just splice the tubing into the existing tubing and make the vinyl tubing long enough for the patient. Note you may be able to use any container of your choice except the Urocare does have a rubber valve at the top which keeps the odor in check. We also use the same simple round bucket to sit the urinal container in because itโs easier carrying to the bathroom for disposal of the contents. Third suggestion we have found placing a cap over the foam part of the hand held unit helps controlling any odor when not in use. We found right size disposable plastic bottle and cut about 2-1/2 inches from the bottom of the bottle and made a cap that fit nicely over the foam. The hardest part was finding the right size since most drink bottles were too small in diameter. Hope this helps.

Please note on new design! Do not buy triangle shape one! Buy the old one if you can.
When not feeling safe enough and very tired and sleepy in the middle of the night to get up and go, This was a great comfort to not only the patient but the care giver to get restful sleep and know the patient did not have to go very far to use the bathroom and fall when a little unstable. we also used a larger rectangular waste container with a plastic bag inside to secure it. It was easily transferred to the sink to wash out the next day . it developed a slight leak and have to repurchase! EDIT After using this new design (triangular bag , emptying spout at an angle, one hook on back , stiffer tube etc) This one is terrible! What were they thinking. It doesnโt hang flat, itโs awkward to empty, tube is longer and way to stiff....... I have used the old one ( rectangular, spout on bottom , double hanger , it hangs flat even when full or empty ) and now for more than a year I had to purchase the stupid new one as a spare because the old one developed a small leak. No problem. This new one may even go in the garbage! I was able to still get the old style fortunately! Edit to previous! 3/2021, Finally spoke with someone at the company. Explaining that for us, this is a must have unit. I am dealing with the redesign of the new unit but dont like it at all. Many other reviews talk about LEAKS! That is not the issue here. Asked if there are any older units out there Old design, less stiff and shorter tube, double hanger , rectangular bag, etc, WAITING FOR A RESPONSE! Again, I between a rock and a hard place, I will have to use the one I have until I can get this resolved. No one else has anything like this on the market. Hope they listen, and respond favorably!!

This is truly a life saver!
My dad frequently needs to urinate at night, like many elderly men. It became worse after he fell at the beginning of the year. Every time he urinates, someone has to get up and empty the urinal. My mom, my brother and the housekeeper each took turns to take care of him in the evenings. They had to get up every half hour, sometimes even more frequently, to empty the urinal. They were all exhausted; my dad felt bad and frustrated, too. I looked through the entire array of urinals on Amazon for one that could be used to help with the situation, and I was so happy when I found this one, the ONLY ONE that is designed to store large amount urine without spilling or smelling. It also has a soft padding at the opening that makes it a lot more comfortable. This is now my dad's favorite urinal. In fact, he now only ever uses this one. No one has to get up any more in the evenings to empty urinals. My whole family is very thankful to this brilliant invention. They couldn't find it anywhere else. I bought extras for my dad in case the one he is currently using breaks. My brother joked and said that he would steal one from my dad and save it for himself. My family also brings the urinal system along with them whenever they take my dad out on a road trip. This saves them the trouble of looking for public bathrooms, which can be difficult in many places. The vender was very responsive to my questions. Larry emailed back promptly with all the helpful information about the urinal system. He also welcomed phone calls for any questions or helps needed for the product. I cannot imagine how my family could survive daily life without this urinal system. I was so worried that everyone will get too tired and fall ill. Now that they can sleep peacefully at night, they can go about their daily life as they use to. Thank you, Larry! For your brilliant invention, the well made product and your warm hearted support!

Awesome user product. Leaks for healthcare provider. No return. Customer Service replacement?
This product is a life saver for my dad who just got out of the hospital and unable to get out of bed for a few weeks. The only problem is the bag itself leaks. We put it in a bag then also in a small trash can to keep from making a mess leaking on the floor. He has two because he loved it so much and so easy for him to use with no accidents but you would think as well made as the product appears, the bag itself should not leak after just 3 days of use. This product is unfortunately according to Amazon not returnable. I do understand somewhat due to the nature of the product but I would think under the circumstances it would be eligible for replacement. Sad that a good product has such a major flaw. I did see a few other reviews with the same problem. I'll call Customer Service to see if there is an appetite for a replacement. I'll let you know what I learn.

Been Extremely Pleased with this Pridcuct
I bought the Comfort Fit Male Urinal here on Amazon from Advantage Urinal Systems at the end of June and as of now I have received 2 more and this company is solid to deal with. If ever there was any issue it was resolved. Larry sends you an email immediately the first time you order and checks on the satisfaction of delivery and of the device and continually checks based on your order frequency. Amy is excellent to talk to in customer service and sales and ensures that you are able ask any question and answers with expertise. This company is on the cutting edge of Urinal systems. I needed this originally to replace a Standard 1,000 ml standard close top urinal we had just purchased for more than a third of the price that did half the job and caused overflow and spillage problems. I have recently become disabled as of March 2, 2017 with a Neurological Disorder and I used to be very active and on the go. I was no longer able to walk with out assistance after this date. I became completely unable to walk April 11th,2917 and bed-bound and wheelchair bound. Bathroom trips became very difficult. I still didn't have a good solution and lots of strain to get to the bathroom in a wheelchair on my own at the time. After a fall at the end of May of 2017 on my one good leg during a neuro eval things got worse. I needed to make a plane trip to Mayo Clinic in June to further determine the cause of my disability. I had no way to use the restrooms on the plane and even though I was on Delta Medical Disability and given a seat at the front of the plane. I was not able to use the restroom because of the amount of staff it would take to get me there and the pain it would cause on my body so I held it for hours. My father who was taking care of me during my 26 days while at Mayo needed something that was able to relieve the strain on him as a caretaker to just get up and take me to the bathroom as he is getting up in age. Even as being continent, it was difficult to transfer to my wheelchair to go to the bathroom and even for just a small trip it took so much effort. Other popular urinals on the market or in hospitals don't have the ability to have the anti-reflux valve or the capacity that this unit does. 2,000 ml is 64 fluid ounces. I used to work in the health care field years ago and remember having to empty full urinals or catheter bags and what a challenge that was. This is great because it means even as I go through the day I am not worried ever about going over the limit of the Urinal. The easy release anti-reflux valve makes it such that a caregiver is able to properly dispose of urine in a safe and containable manner and flush out the system with soap and water. We normally use hot water and soap and clean the inside of the urine receptacle and the foam insert to prevent any infection. I used this Comfort Fit Male Urinal safely on the return plane trip from the MN to AL and a long day. I called it a half-Cath and it was declared as Delta agents were careful as to not mess it up and plane patrons were careful not to get near it and also had no questions because I was able to wrap the tube around my leg. The privacy and ability to discretely use this urinal system from Advantage Urinal Systems even while I am in my wheelchair and bed and even if company has arrived it as huge relief. I am now ordering these two months in advance as home health has requested and so a total of 12 a year but this year it will be a total of 15. My caretakers who take care of me for 64 hours love it and it is easy to use for my parents. The handle attaches comfortably and safely to my seizure pad on the top for easy use in the night and it attaches to the bottom of the hook on my seizure pads for proper down flow and care. I don't know what I would have done without this Urinal as far as care. It works perfectly with a bed pan Don't settle for something that is a third of the price and doesn't do the job. Spend the money get it on prime and have the ability to have at least some independence back. If you are bed bound, disabled or simply unable to get up to use the bathroom and have frequent trips, get this item. You won't regret it. Great Product !!! #HalfCath is the new the way of looking at independence in urinals.

My dad is type A so this was making him feel horrible and helpless
So this is my second order of this product, but it's no fault of the manufacturer. My father had his second stroke in February 2017. He was hospitalized for months with limited mobility and he was given a "paper" urinal because the facility that the hospital used for urinals had burned down. He would ALWAYS spill the urine on himself. It was tragic!!!! My dad is type A so this was making him feel horrible and helpless. He couldn't turn properly to get the proper adjustment. Long story short... he was moved to a nursing home and they gave him a urinal that was plastic with a handle. He is doing better with movement, but it's far from perfect. He can stand and walk very slowly to the bathroom, but he can no longer hold his urine the way he used to so it causes him to want to use his urinal instead. So with this urinal and busy RNA's... he knocks it over trying to get his books or to his computer. MORE MESS.... Sooooo, I came to Amazon and researched and chose this particular urinal. It's been GREAT. He says it's one of his favorite things (in addition to the Reacher I bought him) and the RNAs said it makes their life easier too. He punctured the first one and that was a mess, but it was sturdy enough that I had to come back and get another. I wish I didn't have to spend the money twice in 1 month, but such is life. The smell is limited and it holds a lot more than these crappy urinals provided by the facilities. He can even place it in a small bag to hold on his wheel chair so when he uses the restroom in public places he's able to have some independence. I recommend this urinal to anyone needing it or having loved ones in situations like my dad's. I don't write reviews, but it's made him VERY VERY happy and that means a lot to me. ***Update: it leaked again weeks later. It's great, but only lasts for so long. We gave up unfortunately
