Would this be good for attaching a lunch bag with handles to a backpack?

you will need a larger size. these are snall key chain size.

I purchased a pair of the #1 at big box hardware store, not being sure it was the right size I also bought the #3 because that's what they had. I now know that the #1 will accept door and lock keys but will not work with modern car keys that are FOBs. The #3 will accept the FOBs but is larger than I want as my objective is reducing size & weight of my keys. I am here to purchase #2 which was not offered at the store. I am getting 3 of them at this price since I paid $6.72 not incl tax for 2-#1 & 1-#3.

How safe is the lock? will it break along in time? I use carabiner key chains but the break

These come in various sizes and are made in both metal (hardened stainless steel) and plastic.The smallest sre less than an inch long and rated at about 4 pounds The largest (#4) are about 1.5 x 3 inches and are rated at 75 lbs (33KG)The plastic ones are not very strong, the metal ones are extremely strong for their size.They are mad of a hardened alloy so tough that in an emergency use as a pry bar the metal snapped before it bent.That said, these are not meant to be used for climbing or rigging.I have used a chain of these to hold keys and small tools for ten yearsThey held up very well for my usesThe locking variety is new. The lock mechanism is a plastic bar that rotates to block the gates.It seems sturdy and reliable but I have not tested it over time.They are very slim inprofile
