After boasting about superior modern product to fill cracks and repair wall inconsistencies I asked my painter for the brand of the material he recommends and uses. That’ show I was directed to the Toupret range of fillers. The thing is that we have a second home abroad that requires a lot of redecorating work, that I actually enjoy doing mostly by myself.I ordered this relatively small tube with filler to try on some of the persistent, eye-sore cracks before coating it with paint. The filler comes in a tube that in the usual manner requires you to remove to tip of the nozzle with a Stanley knife, after which you are ready to go. My painter and redecorating friends told me they often applied it just with their fingers over small cracks. But I used a small filling knife.The filler applies very gently and with you one swipe of the knife you’ll get a smooth surface that already shows you that only very little sandpaper rubbing or none at all is required afterward. After applying the filller the crack remains visible through the filler, but after say 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the amount of material used, it dries up solid and intransparent. And you might be almost, ready to cover it with paint. Though the packaging recommends an eight hour dry before applying a paint layer.Anyway, this Toupret filler ensures a smooth result and is a joy to work with.I’ve used it only on plastered walls so far but apparently it works well with wood.
