The first studio album from AlanisMorissette since 2004, Flavors OfEntanglement fuses the organic andthe techno prompted by producer GuySigsworth (Madonna, Björk). Incorporatingbeats, loops and synthesizers, the album was designed, says Morissette,so listeners can dance your faceoff. Balancing introspective confessionand delirious joy, the global and thepersonal, Flavors Of Entanglement isa tasty new musical feast from one ofpop's most intriguing artists.

"Stunning!"
I'm not going to go into a track by track rundown, as others have already done it.All I can say is that this is a brilliant piece of work, although flawed in places, as I don't particularly like the "electronic beats" on most of the tracks, as it isn't anything that interests me, particularly.I must say it does seem to work mostly, but my favourites are the beautiful ballad "Not as We" (the piano IS supposed to be simple, by the way, anything else would spoil the song!), and "Incomplete" (which seems to be another track some people don't get, which I can't understand). The simplicity of the verses musically, with the joyous melodic chorus, really seems to stand out, for me!I think the bonus CD is also superb, and it's well worth spending the extra, as 4 out of the 5 tracks on it, deserve to be on the CD "proper". "Orchid" is a particularly beautiful song. I think I prefer the "sweeter" voiced Alanis to the more "abrasive" sounding one, but either way she is an artist who knows the value of "light and shade" in music. I do love this album and can't stop listening to it!I've been a fan for over a decade, and have most of the CD's, and I think her "unique" way of writing (and singing) lyrics make her an exciting and influential artist, and this album hasn't made me change my mind.I do however think she is an artist that some people will either "love" or "hate", with not much in between!

Excellent CD.
I must admit i was not sure about buying this cd,On first listen the album just did not gel.But very few cds are great on first listen. The more i played this cd the better it got,To me it reminds me in so many ways of "Bring ya to the brink" by Cyndi Lauper,That cd was so different to anything Cyndi Lauper had released before and it was so refreshing and also excellent.Flavors of entanglement is the same in many ways in that it is also very different to previous Alanis Morissette material.Go buy this cd and give it a couple of listens it will really grow on you.

Alanis with new classics
Agree that this is a brilliant CD but don't be put off as I was by differences in opinion in these reviews as this is one of Alanis' best CDs I've heard, despite having fallen in love with many of her previous songs. It does have a varying feel and intensity from track to track, but nothing here is a disappointment, quite the opposite. I am massively impressed by the combination of quality, songwriting, and creativity on this whole CD. It reminds of times I recommend music to others.Enjoy :)

Further readings
I cannot add much after so many comprehensive and well written and well thought reviews. But I'd like to say that this album has a personal meaning to me and I know that there are some of us that can identify with these entanglements just more than we would want to. For all those out there that are healing and that can listen to this album in a autobiographical way, receive my fraternal embrace. The music is sublime!
