New Balance Women's 877 V1 Walking Shoe

Good shoe....Feet are very happy snuggled inside
Appearance: This isn’t the most attractive walking shoe, but it is fairly nondescript. The light blue around the collar and the tongue is attention-getting and pleasing. The overly long laces are also a matching blue. These are; however, better looking and more versatile than many of the glow-in-the-dark multicolored shoes offered by New Balance and other companies.Pros: The padded insole is removable which makes it more user friendly and compatible with one's special inserts. The foam padded collar and tongue with fabric lining makes for a comfortable fit with extended walking. The traditional lacing provides a secure, adjustable and snug fit.Cons: The arch support is adequate for low healthy arches; however, it might be inadequate if one has a high arch or needs extra support in that area. That problem could easily be remedied by adding another insole better suited to one’s individual needs. The sole is cushioned; however, one might prefer more cushion when running/walking over hard surfaces or uneven terrain. The sole is rubber which makes for a quiet walk across hard floors. The toe is rounded.Sizing: I first ordered ½ size smaller which was the recommended size. It fit too soon for my comfort so I ordered ½ size larger. ½ size smaller was just too short for my grumpy feet. This shoe is a bit roomy, but it allows for adding a heel insert or a custom arch support. I can also wear heavier athletic style socks that are more comfortable than thin socks for extended walking.LACING: Oh my! Numerous other reviewers have mentioned the long laces. The ones in my shoes were 52 & 53 inches long. Yep, that is no typo. One lace was one inch longer than the other. I replaced them with 48 inch New Balance laces. Maybe the light blue ones that arrived with my shoes look better; however, the shorter ones look nice and are much easier on the eyes…..and MUCH easier to keep off the floor when I am walking! Maybe a size 12 shoe would be happy with the l-o-n-g laces, but I doubt it.My feet are very happy snuggled inside. Overall, they are a good shoe. I am on my second pair. The first pair walked about 1250 miles on a treadmill, and were still wearable and looked fairly good when they found a new home. However, what works for one person's feet just might spell pain for others.

Perfect for Morton's Neuroma
I am a 32 year old woman, and I have some problems with my feet. I have a moderate case of Morton's Neuroma, so I cannot wear athletic shoes that have a narrow toe box. I have tried so many different brands, and this is the first and only shoe that fits my needs. When I first tried them, I was concerned, as they felt too tight. However, when I removed the insert they came with and put in a cheap, arch-support insert that only extends up to the ball of my foot, then they fit perfectly! I nearly want to cry from happiness when I wear these. With my arch-support inserts, these are the most comfortable shoes I own.Don't be worried about them looking wide and clunky. They actually do look like a cute shoe when you put them on. I have a normal width foot, and size 8M fits great.I am so very happy with these, and I hope that New Balance never discontinues them!

Excellent Walking Shoe Right Out Of The Box
I walk a lot but with fallen arches my feet can get sore so I need a good walking shoe that supports my foot and promotes good motion. I've been using New Balance shoes for several years now with good results. I saw these & thought the price was good and the design suited me so I gave them a try and they are great. Greatly reduced back strain, no sore feet, and I can walk further because the shoes are doing their job. They also look good and are quietly stylish and will go with pretty much anything. This is a great value for these shoes at this price point. I'm impressed. I wear a walking sock but sometimes just go with whatever socks I happen to have on and the shoes forgive me. My foot is fairly slim to medium but I think this shoe is not limiting in width or length but true to size.

I love New Balance shoes
I love New Balance shoes. I discovered New Balance about 20 years ago and they are the only athletic shoes I wear. I have foot issues and need a narrow heel and wider toe box. New Balance SL2 last is perfect. They fit perfectly, I never have to worry that my regular size will not fit properly. I never have blisters or have to "break them in". Now that I am getting older and getting arthritis in my feet, I am even more a New Balance fan. I may be getting older but I don't want my shoes to be Granny shoes! I can be stylish and comfortable.

Not comfortable, very ugly!!!
I did some research looking for a good pair of shoes for people who have plantar fasciitis and that's how I came across these shoes. After reading about 30 reviews I decided to try them out, I thought for sure based on the reviews that these shoes would make my feet feel like they were swaddled in Cotton! When I finally got the shoes I was so excited to put them on so I opened the box and instantly thought wow much uglier in person. They look like men's shoes very box shaped in the front and very ugly overall. I decided that if they were comfortable even though they were extremely ugly and boxy looking I would still keep them if my feet got comfort from them. After I put them on I noticed a couple of things, 1) it felt as if the top of the shoe was digging into the top of my foot. Me initially thinking that maybe my laces were too tight I adjusted them, after adjusting them about four times (I took the laces completely out and put them back in on the last try) I figured out that it wasn't a lace problem it was a shoe problem. 2) at the back of the shoe wear your heel and your ankles are the shoe falls very short under the ankle and to me it was very uncomfortable. On top of these two things the shoe itself was not extremely comfortable like I had imagined it was going to be and there was no arch support. Forget extremely comfortable, It wasn't even just a little comfortable to me it was just an average every day shoe. I wore them for about 2 hours before I decided I could not keep them. I am bummed out about this because now it's back to square one for me, I returned the shoe and got a refund

Great if you use orthotics
I had read that New Balance has a good foot bed for orthotics so I ordered these. The fit is great, the foot bed is removable and my full length orthotics can be inserted. Also the toe is nice and wide. A wonderful shoe that I would highly recommend.

feel good, fit well
With a balance issue, I always worry about shoes that are too soft and have little 'structure' on the outside...these are a mix of mesh and leather, which I am testing to see if 'structure' is enough because too much mesh and foam feels like I am walking on trampoline...for senior is not so good. I do like the large toe box that does not cramp the toes. Only thing...I always wish for a wee bit 2-4mm? more elevated heel...too flat can be an issue....ok after a week.

the toe box is roomy
I love these shoes so much that I ordered a second pair for when the first pair is worn out. I hope that they last longer than three months as the last two pair of runners that I purchased lasted only that long. I walk for two hours daily so fingers crossed that given these shoes are classified as walking shoes they will last longer. The bottom line is that I love these shoes and its been a very long time I have had shoes so comfortable. I have foot issues so its a real pleasure to have a pair of shoes that don't hurt.

Comfortable shoe
The fit is wide as expected. It is not a rocker sole. The base is rather flat. Takes my orthotics well.

Roomy toe box but no arch support
I love the roomy toe box - but disappointed there isn't any arch support. Will have to get some inserts. Otherwise, I really like them and so do my toes.
