Looking at the photos, reading the text has immediately widened my visual and human world. This most humane, adventurous and caring book brought tears to my eyes. Powerful photographs, one after the other; careful interviews with the subjects, who look right back at us. The colors, the complexity and beauty of their lives is inspiring. I'd learned about the book from NPR's interview with Jimmy Nelson, as exciting,moving and nuanced a discussion as those that we find in the book. My grandsons immediately were drawn in to look, read and marvel. What a gift! Thank you!

This book is full of great photos as well as interviews with the subjects. It also has an app on your phone or tablet whereby you point it at a picture and up comes a video. It represents a large number of the indigenous peoples of the world in a very respectful manner. The only drawback is its the heaviest book I've ever owned, which makes it difficult to read unless its resting on a table.

Beautiful book that I gave to a friend for her birthday. Incredible photos. Brought tears to my eyes. Grateful Mr. Nelson is documenting these tribes.

I use App along and enjoy my experience looking at every portrait with amazing feelings. Jimmy Nelson is a true artist creating these masterpieces for people to connect with each other. It increased my knowledge and awareness and I look at every human differently with admiration and empathy , and feeling grateful. This book is very unique and have a special place in our home now.

It's very rich in colors, faces, and showcases vanishing traditions.The hardcover book associated with the virtual reality goggles and the app proves that old-fashioned books are not dead and can be more involving when combined with other tools.Overall I recommend it to culture, history, and anthropology lovers.

As we travel with him, Jimmy Nelson, the photographer and creator, invites us to contemplate the infinite complexity and variety of the Brotherhood of Man ( men AND women). To spend time with this work is to come face to face with our own humanity as well as that of others. It reminds us, too, of what would be lost should the world allow the cultures, knowledge, languages, and philosophies depicted in this wonderful book to fade away. One negative: the accompanying text - not by Jimmy Nelson - is insipid, unengaging and superficial.
