Davis Instruments 6345 Leaf/Soil Moisture/Temp Monitoring Station; w/o Sensors

Great addition to a Davis Vantage Pro 2 weather station. Adds capacity for up to four temperature, leaf and soil sensors. I use it to monitor the temperature in our koi ponds at the surface and the bottom. Easy to configure.

Davis makes a great product.

Seems to have some quality issues. The first unit quit after 3 days, the second one works, but says low battery most of the time. The 3 volt lithium battery is fine, just a faulty reading. I'm keeping this one.

Used this sub-station with Stainless Temperature Probe Part #6470 and Soil Moisture Sensor Part #6440 connected to a Davis Pro Vantage 2 - easy setup, flawless to date.

Davis products have always been top quality. This temperature probe was no exception, just what I needed.

After purchasing a Vantage Pro2 station I started paying attention to the options avalible for it. I do alot outside gardening and such. This item stood out at me as something that might be helpfull in the garden. I didn't know what's happening below the soil. So I bought this to add on to my VP2 and I love it. So far I have added 4 moisture sensors, 2 temperature probes, and 1 leaf wetness sensor. All reports to my console then to WeatherLink. Soon I hope to add the Agricultural/turf modual to it. But before I actually got this guy I never knew how fast the soil drys out. No wonder I havn't had much success in growing. It's easy to forget whats going on where it matters most. With this addition you will know. I highly recommend this to anyone who owns a Vantage Pro2 and loves gardening but just hasn't had much luck in it. The reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because unless you have all 10 sensors installed, your readings may be off a little. I started out with 1 leaf wetness sensor and one moisture sensor. I noticed the moisture readings never got below 5 cb. When I added the other 3 moisture sensors and did the soaking process all 4 hit 0 cb. I've got 2 vacant temperature connectors and 1 vacant leaf wetness jack. So I wouldn't doubt those readings maybe shy of 1-2 leaf wetness or temperature, so no big deal. It's accurate enough for me.

This was a replacement for a previous unit I had. I've been using Davis Instruments weather equipment for many decades. Great stuff.

Delivered quickly. Easy to set up, will accomodate multiple soil moisture sensors. Works flawlessly with my Vantage Pro II weather station. A good addition.
