Does the job!
I needed a glass cutter that would cut strips and circles for my fusing projects and this one was inexpensive. My husband made a guide for it to slide back and forth. (see picture). It's a 1 x 2 with a groove cut into it. He then attached it to a laminated board for me and it works great! It has a smooth slide along the groove and makes straight cuts. It makes my cuts so much easier, cleaner and straighter than free hand- of course- and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. Soon I will have beautiful fused items for sale in my etsy shop, hydeparkhill.

Perfect - with part of a circular saw rip guide added
I liked the photo and idea in another review, but we're outdoors. So I found the aluminum strip from a $20 Bora Rip Guide for circular saws works perfectly in place of a board. The Glastar groove fits perfectly inside the groove of the Bora aluminum plate as if they were designed to be one product. I threw away the red and black plastic pasts of of the Bora Guide I didn't need. The Glastar Strip Cutter is a quality product, but like the other buyer who cut a groove into their guide board, I find placing the slide in a groove provides more accurate cuts than running this along a wood strip. If you have basic carpentry skills you'll probably do fine. I had problems
You have to build a wooden base. If you have basic carpentry skills you'll probably do fine. I had problems. I got the wooden pieces cut as instructed at my local Home Depot. I bought wood screws. I tried driving in the screws with a power drill. One of the screws hit a knot and wouldn't go all the way in. It was then stripped after several attempts to remove it. I had to go back to HD and get the entire 1"x 2" cut off. The top of the 1" x 2" has to be perfectly smooth for the strip cutter to glide across. The screw heads can't stick up at all. I bought wood glue and clamps and attached a fresh 1x2 to the base. This worked great. Used the strip cutter yesterday and it worked very well, though it's hard to see where the blade is to get an accurate measurement.

Hey there fellow stained glass artist. Read this it will help u make a decision. I started off as a production cutter for picture frames, aka nothing but squares. For that the company I worked for got me the exquisite "C.R.Laurence production " t square cutter. Wichita uses a wheel system that clings to the edge of the glass if u have 159$/290$ to spend. GET THAT. BUT FOR 30$, THIS IS THE BEST AVAILABLE. Just read the instructions and build the proper jig. You tube has a Visio explaning it . As long as u follow instructions and built it right this tool will be a.staple . Not to mention it cuts cur les as well . As an experienced professional, this Glastar one is the best , BUY THIS ONE. shipping was fast and free. I am not affiliated with any company, just an everyday customer trying to help ppl but the right tools . To make a good product u need.the right.tools . And this is a necessary one . To be able to repeat exact strips easily is pricless. Hope this helped. P.s., GLASTAR ALMOST ALWAYS HAS THE BEST PRODUCTS

Great tool for the money!
great! easy to use and gets the job done. Made 20 cuts for some glass in picture frames in an hour or so. really nice! Also has a bunch of spare blades and good instructions. Highly recommended to use glass snips for a clean cut. but it works if you just tap the back of the glass to snap it down the line.

Would not buy this again
I wanted to like this better than I do. Am giving it 3 stars as I'm hoping eventually I will find it more useful, maybe it's tricky to use and I don't have a good technique. The main trouble I have is that it is so light weight that I find it slips around very easily resulting in a less than straight score. I built a plywood base for it, which was not too hard to do but the device itself needs some way to lock or camp it to the base. All in all I avoid using it and am still searching for something else.

An amazing device
Go out to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a piece of about 2' X 3' plywood 3/4" thick and a 2' length of 1" X 2" board. Screw the board to one of the short ends of the plywood. Use this contraption as a guide for the T-square like cutting tool. Use a ruler of your choice to measure the distance from the inside edge of the cutting board to the location of the blade when the device is aligned with the side of the board. I don't measure. I just cut out the pattern and use it to measure. I now only use my grinder to even out any rough cuts. People who gave this product poor reviews obviously did not follow the directions! The device comes with the blades installed. They are initially difficult to see. Forget reading more reviews, just buy it.

I like this product
I like this product. I know I'll need to upgrade my "guide" and have been using the raised portion of my table. It took some getting used to figuring out how to measure things that are under an inch. I like that the product doesn't have heaps of parts. All the spare cutters are on the cutting wheel. When one dulls, you can spin the nut and position the next cutter in position. I am giving it four stars only because the circle cutter doesn't have a suction and can be tricky to use. I knew this in advance and figured I will find a way to make that thing stay, but when working on hard glass where I need more pressure in the cutter end, while keeping pressure on the base so it doesn't move, I have found it slips often. This can be fixed with tape or tack obviously, but it'd be so much easier with a suction.I also wanted to cut smaller circles, and you're limited on how small because of the triangular base. I think the smallest diameter is just over 3", for most people that won't matter. This product is worth the price.
