Non Catholic Review
As a non Catholic, I have enjoyed perusing the pages about various saints and what historical notes there are on what their accomplishments were or were not. The idiosyncrasies of selecting/making saints show the human condition not the Devine. It was interesting to look up the saint for my birthdate. He was not particularly auspicious, rather mundane. With my sense of humor, and no disrespect intended, I could see using it at a gathering of people (I know well) to find each person's saint. It could be fun, interesting, and enlightening.

Great Reference Book
This book lists all of the different patron saints as well as tells you their feast days and a short biography of them. It is enjoyed by adults but I have given it to those making their First Communion. It is a book, they can refer back to as they mature and find an appreciation of being Catholic and having all of the special help of the Saints to ask for intercession with life's obstacles.

If you own just ONE Saints book ...
... this should be the one you own. Believe it or else, it's accurate to what the Catholic Church says about them, and it's done with wonderful wit. Hey, you just gotta laugh at this stuff. Sean Kelly is one of the guys from the glory days of the National Lampoon-- he's the guy responsible for "Son O'God Comics", among other things.

This was the book. It arrived in excellent condition. Since i had read it before there were no textual surprises. But this is a funny take on sainthood. Love it.

A piece of cynicism
The authors of this book (admittedly readable and entertaining in its way) have had a good joke at my cost. I very naively was lookig for the traditional Catholic Saints book I never had (I frequented progressive, modern-minded, tradition-mocking "Catholic" schools); the cover of the book as presented in Amazon made me believe that was the one. And then the book turned out to be another piece of cynicism: the same de-mytholigizing, progressive, tradition-mocking stuff I was so fed up with. I cannot say the publishers wanted to deceive the public: as I see now, on the back cover it is labelled as belonging to a "REFERENCE- HUMOR" series. If you are looking for good, mildly anti-Catholic jokes, this book may be for you. But my fellow innocent-minded devout readers should know what's is about.
