After having it for a couple weeks we felt inclined to leave a few comments in a review.Overall, the bike is better built than any of the other bikes we have ever owned. However - the most expensive bike I've owned was a $750 mountain bike which now seems flimsy compared to the thick metal build of the Magnum Metro.The Metro seems to be a "one size fits all" style. I was worried the frame size of 17.5" would be a little small for me being 6ft but the way the handle bars adjust on the fly and the way the seat adjusts it actually fits both my wife at 5' 5" and me at 6' just fine.Our Metro came set in power mode, which is powerful enough to put a smile on your face every time the motor kicks in. We were able to get roughly 40 miles in power mode on our hilly terrain around the lake. Once we set it to normal we were able to get a solid 50 miles. There is also an eco mode which I assume takes you up to the full 60 miles that is advertised. Weight, Terrain, and your speed also factor into your battery life but we typically rode this bike in PAS 2 for a nice 15 mph ride.Here are a few reasons we chose the Magnum brand over other brands:- We like that Magnum's throttles are always on. Since ebikes are typically heavier bikes in nature it can be difficult to begin peddling, especially if you're on an incline. With the always on throttle you can take off from a dead start (on a hill or not) without ever touching your peddles and get up to 20mph with full throttle.- The LCD display that illuminates at night. a few of the nicer ebikes we looked at had subpar displays compared to Magnums.- Built in USB charging port. It is nice if you're on a long ride using GPS that you don't have to worry about your phone dying.- Hydraulic disk breaks that use break pads similar to a car. These breaks have great stopping power! Love them!- Easily adjustable handlebars, the handle bar setup is fantastic. However, we found it is important to make sure they are adjusted properly. Since we had to install them ourselves if you don't properly tighten the quick adjustment feature the handle bars can shift on you during the ride which is quite dangerous. ### ⭐⭐ Not A Bike for Long Term Use *by M***3 on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on October 6, 2019* The bike was great when I first got it, although there were a few obvious flaws from the start. First, there is no reasonably low assist speed: the first, lowest assist level propels the bike at an indicated 12.5MPH - too fast for public mixed use trails, and too fast for Winter riding in the cold. You can use the thumb throttle for low speed riding, but that gets tiring pretty quickly. Second, the location of the water bottle bosses right near the bottom of the step-thru portion of the frame completely negates the advantage of the step-thru design: if you mount a water bottle there, you will have to swing your leg way over to get on the bike. Even unused, the raised screws tend to catch the foot. There are far better bikes out there for people like me with leg issues who need a step-through frame. Also problematic is the locations of the charging port and kickstand: the charging cable can be broken by the pedal crank if the bike is moved while plugged in, and the kickstand interferes with the pedal crank. That 20th century design needs to go. The lights are a mixed bag: the rear light is battery operated and also has no flashing mode - that got tossed into a box and was replaced by a Planet Bike "Rack Blinky 5." The headlight is wired to the pack, and has a decent, if somewhat blotchy beam pattern and coverage. I use it as a low beam, with a second light mounted on the handlebar for high beam. It's a little dangerous having to turn the headlight on and off by pressing the top of the light, though: it can just barely be reached while riding, and this creates the temptation to turn the light on while riding. Don't. The real problem with this bike, though, is that the geared hub motor just isn't well built or well lubricated. It has plenty of power, but even more noise now that it has some miles on it. I was getting occasional loud whines from the motor within weeks of unboxing the bike, and they slowly got louder and more frequent over the next nine months and 1200 miles. It is now consistently loud once the motor is warm after 5-15 minutes of riding. I knew that since the motor still functioned perfectly I was unlikely to get a free replacement from the manufacturer, so I waited until the warranty was ending and the motor was consistently loud to contact them about it. BIG mistake... Even worse than the annoying issues with the bike were my dealings with the company that "makes" it (in China). Though US-based, Magnum was strongly reminiscent of a Chinese company. They at first seemed helpful, and since I was only requesting that, because the motor still worked ok, they sell me a new wheel/motor assembly at their cost, I was hopeful. I was told that they 'don't sell anything at cost' but they then told me to make them a recording of the sounds, which I did, using my smartphone in my under-seat case. I uploaded it to YouTube, sent them a link, and waited. And waited... I sent them another email asking if they had gotten the link. No response. Despite having had no trouble communicating with them for about 5 emails about the issue, as soon as I sent the link to the now amazingly loud hubmotor, they never again responded. By then the warranty had ended, and I was stuck with a $2k bicycle that sounds like I built it myself from used washing machine parts. I'll try to add a link to the video, which is pretty much audio-only because of the phone being in the seat bag. In any case, given the chance to buy this bike again, I most certainly would NOT.EDIT: you can find the recording by searching "Magnum Metro Hubmotor Noise" on YouTube. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not 1 but now 3 and a 4th on the way *by A***T on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 6, 2020* This is an exceptional bike. It is smooth, reliable, and most of all fun. I have had my 1st one since the summer of 2019 and just ordered my 4th. I feel it is well built and if you are looking to get out there and feel, see, and experience a world outside of your houses bubble, then this is a great solution. I researched bikes for over 2 years to finally make the decision that this bike and all the specifications I was looking for minus one. I would like to have tires that are multi-terrain.Does petal assist get you up and going? Yes and that is the point. Can you hear the motor? Yes but if you don't want to hear any sound just pedal your bike. I have found the Hollywood rack very helpful in getting my bikes from point A to B. What I experienced is as I explored further and further from my home, I became interested in other areas. This allows me to get out there! Without these bikes, I would never have found out how much I have been missing.
