Good sound particulary for small size
This gong has a good sound and is fairly loud when you consider its size. The support for the metal gong is simple, effective, and has a pleasing appearance. We are using it in a large open office (90ftx30ft) for visitors to get the attention of our staff. It is loud enough for our office.

Excellent "Mindfulness Bell"
It wasn't as sturdy as I would have hoped it would be. It seemed smaller than I expected it to be. I got my ruler out and yup...it was 12 inches, but hmmm...I am pleased with what I received. This was a gift for my granddaughter for her 8th birthday as I have an app on my phone that is a mindfulness bell and ever since she was a toddler, when the bell would ring, we'd both stop and take a deep breath. I hadn't seen her for almost 16 months and when the bell rang on my app, she reminded me we needed to stop and take a breath. Out of sheer curiosity I asked her if she thought of that as her own personal time out and when she said yes, I knew she needed a "real" mindfulness bell. Her birthday is next month so we'll see how it goes.

Has a tinny sound.
I bought this for my grown son who loves unusual things. He specifically asked for one with a true gong sound. This was not it. It had a tinny sound. I returned it and purchased the one from Woodstock Chimes. Yes, the price is way more, but if you want a truly authentic sound, that is what you need. This one is probably ok for a decorative item to set on your desk, but don't expect a great sound.
