Before swapping the card download the intel driver packages so you can install them after you swap out the card. On device manager you can uninstall the Qualcomm Atheros wi-fi and BT then shutdown and swap the card out. Make sure you plug back in both antenna's wires tiny connectors, you may need a magnifying glass to see better. Power up and run the 2 Intel .exe files to install the drivers for Wi-Fi and BT. You will need to couple your Lenovo Pen to the new Blue Tooth. If you use Wireless displays you may need to remove them on the device list and add them back, authorize the connection on your wireless display. **Q: if the pc will always be near the wifi router but a hardwired connection isnt an option, are attenna required or can it just be plugged in?** A: You need the antenna if you're going to use the Bluetooth at all. My old system had the 7265 with bluetooth 4.0, works fine but getting old in the tooth. I simply swapped out the old card and plugged this one in. In terms of wireless performance I see no real differences. My connection is limited to 100mps so it's the service that's the limitation, not this card. However Bluetooth 5.0 is nice. It's got better broadcast range, faster transfer speeds, and you can use multiple devices on the same connection. Few devices support bluetooht 5.0 since it is so new.
