Review: Great book - I bought this for my dad for Christmas and he really enjoyed it. I can't help but look at it, too. And now I would like more of these for other countries. It's really well put together and has some great info. Fun to read. The books is a lot smaller than I expected, but that just makes it a great travel sized book.

Finns??
Oh, the Finns are just so downright fun!!! I didn't know anything about the country except that they were on the wrong side in WWII and the group NIGHTWISH came from there. Now I know more than I probably ever need to know. But it's a fun and informative read, and, If I ever get brave enough to fly to Helskini, rent an car and pay for outrageously high Finn gasoline, and go live on one of their million or so lakes for a week or two, this will be invaluable. It's worth the money and very interesting and informative.

A must!
I would like give the back story of why I think this book is so AWESOME. My husband and I live in Spokane WA. In 2015, Spokane hosted the WorldCon for SciFi and Fantasy. At each WorldCon, cities vie for the bid to host for two years in the future. My husband (especially) and I helped the Helsinki delegation with driving them around to get supplies (Spokane WA public transportation is terrible) and the use of our kitchen as a prep kitchen for room party food. Everything that culture smart highlighted as Finnish characteristics was completely in keeping with our experience. I would recommend this to anyone traveling to Finland and/or having business dealings with Finnish folks. Our impression of the Finns is that they are: lovely, quiet, surprisingly forthright when they trust you, funny, industrious, loyal and highly ethical. Getting to know the Finns really persuaded us to visit Helsinki for WorldCon 75 and to make it a two week vacation.

Pretty good & comprehensive take on Finland
This is a pretty fun one and it hits the major points that i think it should hit pretty well. I have visited there myself & have relatives who live there & are from there and so I can say that this is a pretty good guide to "the motherland."

As someone visiting Finland for the first and probably only time I found this a useful and interesting little book. By the time we landed in Helsinki I felt I I had a good feel for the country and a basic understanding of the culture. During my stay I was able to relate back to what I had read and the knowledge gained enhanced my stay. Just wish there was a map and basic Finnish words included.

While the world is getting smaller there are some country specific customs that if ignored could make a visitor seem impolite. This book provides an insight into the Finnish customs with an interesting overview of some of the history of the country. This relatively small amount of background history allowed me to feel much more confident to join in conversation. Well worth reading before a first trip to Finland

Bought is to an elderly couple who are yet to make their first trip to Finland. They found it useful, easy, fun and interesting to read, and feel less iffy about traveling to Finland soon.
