Nice Backpacking Setup
Rod and reel are both nicely made and of very good quality. The graphite rod breaks down small enough to be in your pack and it is sensitive enough for mountain lake trout from 6" and upward in size. The reel is also of good quality and loaded with 6# line is very good for lakes and streams. First time out this combo caught 4 trout of various sizes. It casts well and the 4-piece rod stays together when casting. Case is also first rate, though you must remove the reel each time for it to fit. Love the product for taking with me for hikes to the high lakes areas.

Well Worth the Money!
This combo is everything I hoped it would be - it's light, easy to carry, easy to assemble, the reel is very good quality - it casts a long ways, and reels in easily - the action is very light and well suited for the brook trout that I go after

Snapped after 2 uses
Got this for my boyfriend last September. He didn't have a chance to use it till this summer and on it's second use the top two sections snapped in half when he was trying to reel in a small fish. He has been fishing his whole life and said this never has happened. Snapped to the point of not able to use after 2 uses. totally unacceptable.

Great setup for travel!
Great rod and reel for the money! I put 6lb trilene xl on it and it stayed together with a 6 lb large mouth hooked to it! If thats not good enough for a light weight travel rod then tell me what is? The reel is real smooth and the drag works perfect and it is strong enough to set a 3/0 hook.

Junk
The pole is junk and the entire kit is not easily packable. I still caught lots of fish with it, but its very poor quality.

Best Backpacking Combo!
Around 20 mountain trout on its 1st trip backpacking in the Trinity Alps. I'd say that success is proof enough. Very compact and easily packable. I keep mine in the case even though the extra weight. It really protects and keeps eyes and such in good shape without worrying about breakage, etc in the woods. I love the quality and construction and you really cannot beat the price anywhere. reviews, this is a great set!

Poor durability and questionable customer service.
Summary: what appears to be a nice rod and reel combo is ruined by a defect and awful customer service. Do not purchase. ADDENDUM: Upon further effort (read, fooling around with their automated system in order to talk to a person), I spoke to an employee who expressed disbelief at the failure and offered to replace the rod at no cost other than shipping the broken rod to them. Score has been changed to reflect this.I have two concerns. The first, more minor concern, is that the case is a poor fit for the product. It appears to be the same case used for the Trailmaster Fly Rod, which means that the rod cannot be stored in the case with the reel attached. If I'm going to have to take the reel off, I'd just as soon not have the big side pouch, because the side-zip opening makes it much more difficult to insert the rod pieces than in a tube with an opening end, such as what came with my Okuma Citrix travel casting rod. It's feasible to think that poor case design contributed to the second problem.I purchased this rod a couple months ago to take with me on some travels this summer. I used it for probably 8 hours of fishing, during which time I neither caught any fish nor snagged anything, and meticulously cleaned it and kept it in its case. The initial fishing occurred before a road trip. After arriving at my destination, I unpacked the rod to attempt to fish for trout, and after two casts of an old, extremely lightweight topwater crankbait, the tip section of the rod split. This, in and of itself, wouldn't convince me to give it such a low rating. However, when I called Eagle Claw to attempt to take advantage of their Limited Lifetime Warranty, I ended up listening to a prerecorded message stating that I needed to ship them the rod (insurance is required), proof of purchase, and $15 (which contradicts their website, which asks for $20). The recording then hung up on me. I paid $60 for the rod and reel combo. Paying to get the replacement (which is all they do, according to the aforementioned recording) would cost me somewhere a minimum of somewhere around $30, which is completely ridiculous. I think I'll keep that $30 and spend it at a local retailer that gives me some leverage on a rod from a better manufacturer.Bottom line, the company's customer service is awful, and as a purchaser from Amazon, I have no leverage to encourage Eagle Claw (really, Wright and McGill) to deal with me in a reasonable fashion. This is the first and last time I will purchase fishing tackle from Amazon. Stick to buying from good local tackle shops, who can go to bat for you with the manufacturer on situations like this. Eagle Claw has a long-standing great reputation, but if this is how they handle their flagship product, it doesn't seem likely to last long.

Love it but..
I love this fishing pole would have given it five stars but.... the reel that comes with the pole doesn’t quite fit in the cogs on the pole but other than that very very nice fishing pole
