Lovely poems to read and contemplate
I ordered this for my granddaughter who enjoys poetry. She absolutely loves it! She said she reads a poem every night. And the cover is beautiful.

A beautiful and thought provoking book on the poetry of Zen.
I have had an interest in Zen and Asian poetry for more than forty years. This fantastic book begins with an introduction to how the philosophy of Zen can directly relate to a beautiful poem. This book has two sections. The first section covers Chinese poems taken from numerous sources. The second section covers poems from the Japanese poetry masters. In general, the Chinese poems are a little longer in length; nevertheless, all the poems in this collection are a joy to read. If you like Asian poetry, you will love this book. "The Poetry Of Zen" is a beautiful little book...chock full of well-crafted and though provoking Zen poetry. It's easy to pick up and read a poem of two in a few minutes...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for anyone following a Zen or Buddhist philosophy.

The translation of the poems are clear.This book is exactly as I thought it would be and wanted it to be.Zen poems are simple and beautiful.That is how I find this book.It relaxes me to read it.

Wonderful Book
I have really enjoyed reading this book of poetry.It is very well translated and is a wonderful read. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in poetry.It is full of wonderful poetry that anyone can enjoy, not just those interested in Zen, but everyone can enjoy reading this book.

One to browse and dip into
A fine collection drawn from both Chinese and Japanese sources. Pen portraits of each of the poets and a short introduction to each of the two sections. Lovely to have, to dip into at random. Thank you.

Beautiful Poetry
A wonderful collection of thought provoking poems... I have already spent a lot of time enjoying the poems in this book which feature a good selection of ancient poets. At the back of the book you can find a bit of information about each poet.Highly recommended.

The book has two parts - chinese and japanese. Translations are transparent which means that you forget you read translations.
