The outer bag is a thick plastic resealable bag designed to lock in the essence. The inner bag is great, as I feel like the person who put this together is making sure that the full quality of the product reaches me.As soon as I opened the outer bag, I could smell the wood. It has a very distinct and strong aroma, and I can imagine using it in a drawer, without lighting it, or even in a bathroom just to freshen the air. It is very strong, and has a citrus mixed with wood smell. Very pleasant.There is a small feather inside the bag. I can't tell what kind of bird it is from, but it is a nice touch.This would make a very nice gift for anyone. The package is of very heavy quality, and I just can't say enough about the wood. I didn't know there was anything out there that was natural and this aromatic. Aside from some length differences, they are uniform in cut and color - not at all like the photo (irregular, more natural palo santo sticks I usually purchase). Fragrance is also not the same (these make me sneeze) and they burn much more quickly, than the ones I usually have. When I inquired with seller (who I found to be very prompt, which I appreciate), I was told 'Yes it is authentic and come directly from Peru.' Although, the package I received states country of origin: Ecuador. I was also informed that the palo santo sticks from Ecuador are smaller and burn slower than palo santo sticks from Peru which are larger and burn quicker. Hmmm? Seller informed me that "country of origin: Ecuador" label is old and all sticks are now from Peru (provides best quality to customers) and new labels stating such.
