Ripped right through sod and dirt with a normal DeWalt drill. Dropped the spike in and moved on. I did water the yard before hand to help it cut a little easier, but I think it would have worked regardless. Just push down on your drill in light increments as you go, and keep it from biting too hard and you’ll be fine. Sometimes it wants to just carve without ejecting soil but you just need to feather it if it does. Review: Great Value & ease of use - Works as described. Made installation of pipe effortless. ## Features - 【Multi-Purpose Use】 Ideal for planting bare-root trees, large shrubs, and perennials in gardens or orchards. Also creates clean holes for 4x4 fence posts, mailboxes, deck footings, and anchoring tents, beach umbrellas, or playsets. From landscaping to anchoring – this auger drill bit does it all - 【Adjustable Depth & Diameter】 Drill exactly what you need: from 2" shallow holes for seedlings to full 24" depth for deep roots. The 3" min diameter fits most jobs, but need wider? Drill multiple passes around the same center to expand up to 6"+ for larger plants or posts. One auger, endless possibilities - 【One-Piece Carbon Steel】 30% harder than stainless for maximum durability in tough ground. Forged from a single billet of high-carbon steel with no welded joints. Green coating prevents rust. Built to last, not to be pretty - 【Handles Hard Clay & Compacted Soil】 Aggressive spiral tip powers through hard clay, dense soil, and light gravel. NOT designed for solid rock or heavy rock fields. For typical garden and fence post jobs, it excels - 【Universal Drill Compatibility】 Fits ALL standard 18V+ cordless drills with 3/8" or larger chuck. No adapters needed – just insert the precision-machined hex shank and tighten. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0GCZMPZP5 | | Best Sellers Rank | #11,124 in Tools & Home Improvement ( See Top 100 in Tools & Home Improvement ) #6 in Auger Drill Bits | | Brand | SYITCUN | | Brand Name | SYITCUN | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 out of 5 stars 723 Reviews | | Cutting Diameter | 7.6 centimeters | | Finish Type | Green Coating | | Finish Types | Green Coating | | Included Components | auger drill bit | | Item Highlight | For Deep Tree Planting & Tall Fence Posts – Heavy Duty Garden Earth Drill | | Manufacturer | SYITCUN | | Material | High Carbon Steel | | Material Type | High Carbon Steel | | Number of Flutes | 2 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Number of Pieces | 1 | | Part Number | SY-dz-25122906 | | Shank Type | Hex | | Surface Recommendation | Soil | | Tool Flute Type | Spiral | | Unit Count | 1 Count | ## Images ![3"x24" Extra Long Auger Drill Bit, One-Piece Solid Steel Construction - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71lrUu2SWTL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Color, Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: What plants is this 3"x24" auger best for?** A: Designed for deep planting of small trees, saplings, roses, shrubs, deep flower bulbs, tomatoes, peppers and other deep-rooted vegetables.
