A Place of Quiet Rest: Finding Intimacy with God Through a Daily Devotional Life [Wolgemuth, Nancy DeMoss, Tada, Joni Eareckson] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. A Place of Quiet Rest: Finding Intimacy with God Through a Daily Devotional Life Review: WONDERFUL! - I enjoyed this book so much! The author offers her thoughts and experiences in cultivating a special time with God. I had already been through another of her books - a daily journey through the Psalms - and learned from her some ideas in preparing to meet the Lord in His Word. A Place of Quiet Rest added so much more! I'm very glad I purchased it. Review: Truth and Reconciliation - If you want a deeper understanding on what it means to have a devotional life then you want to read this book. But this is not a regular book, this is a challenging one- when you start experiencing God showing your true self but also the truth of His love for us! โค๏ธโ๐ฉน๐๐๐๏ธ

A Treasure to find
This book is such an encouragement for those desiring a more intimate relationship with Jesus. I've bought 7 and given to family and friends not as a gift but an encouragement and blessing to them. Nancy has written a lot of books and has a podcast and ministry to others. If you've never heard or read anything of hers, I encourage you to do so.

Like all books a bit wordy.
Love this book. I feel Iโm at the feet of Jesus now. Just a bit wordy, could of said the same with less.

A Life-changing Book
If your daily time with Christ has become no more than a check on your "to-do" list, then let this book turn it for you, as it did for me, into a daily "love time" with Jesus Christ. The book has been adequately described in detail by other reviewers, but I just wanted to confirm their reports and relate that this is a book that will change your daily devotional time to an activity you cannot live without. Journalling, Bible study, intercession, singing, and other elements of a daily quiet time are covered in detail. Nancy De Moss shares her own failure at times to carve out her time with Jesus and does not set herself up as an example of perfection, but gives us enough tools to help us keep our devotional life vibrant. With notebook and Bible nearby I now thoroughly enjoy my time with the Lord each morning. The book is a great gift but be sure to give one to yourself first. Keep it, and re-read it once a year. It will become a favorite for a "renewal week-end" for yourself once a year.

An excellent book on this topic
When I first started reading A Place of Quiet Rest, I thought I wouldn't learn anything new. As you can see from the tabs in the picture (and that is not everything I highlighted), I was wrong. "I've often said that if I could share just one message, it would be on the value and importance of a personal devotional life." I already have an established quiet time and have for years. So why would I choose to read a book like this? Because I truly believe there is always something new to learn, and books like these tend to give us a perspective we may not have considered before. "When we become preoccupied with earthly things rather than eternal matters, we easily become resentful, self-centered, and angry." Incomplete snippets from the book: "Throne before the phone privilege to share sweet union and communion with the Bridegroom of my soul those whose lives bear the sweet, rich fruit of meeting with God on a consistent basis for thirsty souls a story that has your name and mine Mary had chosen to cultivate a relationship with Him some of us have had devotions, but not had devotion our souls need to be restored" So, what makes this book stand out? This is not a book that tells you to read your Bible, pray, and call it a day. If it were, it would be a really short book. The author, instead, covers many topics, broken into six sections. Not only did that allow her to cover quite a bit of ground, but it also made the book easier to read and digest. The six sections are: The Priority of a Devotional Life, The Purpose of a Devotional Life, The Pattern of a Devotional Life, The Practice of a Devotional Life, and The Product of a Devotional Life. Each section has several chapters that delve further into that particular topic. I can see why this is the 25th anniversary edition of this book, and why it continues to get printed. Not only does the author use quotes from well-known authors (like Spurgeon and Piper), but she also uses Scripture to back up her points. This book is saturated in scripture, and I found myself going to my Bible multiple times to make sure the verses were correct (they were). This book made me think a lot about my daily quiet time and how I can draw even closer to the Lord. The book is encouraging and inspiring. I don't feel like I am adequately explaining the treasure that this book is. At the end of each chapter, there are "make it personal" sections, where the author asks questions or gives suggestions on ways you can make what you have just read personal and applicable to your situation. Thank you to Moody Publishers for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

a must read
Excellent book to help you learn how to spend quality time with the lord as opposed to just going through the motions. Highly recommend this book to all seeking to draw nearer to God.
