I've never had a sail on my sea kayak before, so didn't want to spend $130 on the name brand one just to find out it's not my thing or worth the trouble. Very glad I purchased this though. Very cheaply priced for what you get. It's been on my boat for two trips now and performed well. The stitching and materials do seem pretty cheap, but it's held up surprisingly well so far. I'm also surprised, but of course glad, it came with as many straps and hardware as it did. It even came with a carrying bag! However, fitting it in the bag is a hassle, so I just keep it under a bungee strap on the deck of my boat when not in use. I'm sure I'll regret this eventually, as it's exposed to UV rays and sticks and whatnot, but having it accessible at a moments notice is nice. I was relieved to find it's VERY easy to deploy while paddling as the winds shift. No need to pull over to dry land to set it up. When the wind dies just give it a twist and tuck it back under the bungee again! The clear plastic is crinkly and not real clear for seeing though but definitely better than not having it at all. Despite the cheap materials, I would recommend this product. Good design, and VERY reasonable price. Heck, if it can save you from a few miles of paddling on one trip, it's worth it! Plus it makes you look smarter than all those other kayakers who are paddling!!

I really wanted this to work for my son’s kayak. Unfortunately after trying straps in all different directions and many other hacks that my husband attempted, we just weren’t successful. Too many times, this product would flimsily tip into the water and not catch any wind, even on the most windy days.*Updating my review from 1 to 3 stars since the seller contacted me and offered to make things right after reading my review. They issued a full refund with no questions asked. I might try this sail in the future if they make some updates to its stability.

Use for My kayak. Easy use. Light weight. Love it

This sail is pretty well made for this price range! The fabric is securely stitched, the plastic window provides good visibility, the straps are secure. All good things for taking out on the water and enjoying the wind in your kayak…However, that’s where this lacks for me. It’s a mix of user error and design flaw, but without having a mast and rudder, this is very hard to control and gain any useful motion unless the wind is blowing steady in the direction you want to travel. Without the mast, you can’t decide how much wind you want to catch. Without the rudder, you can’t decide which direction you want to go.Overall, a well made product but a poorly designed one for use as a kayak sail.

I had issues with the first one that I ordered and it broke within 10 minutes. HOWEVER, this company has EXCELLENT customer service. They shipped me out a replacement asap and I have not had any issues with it at all. I wish all companies that work with Amazon made sure the customer was happy like this one did. They emailed me several times along the way and followed up again a week or so after the new one arrived. I will make sure to order again from them and recommend them to others. Now as for the sail.... I have multiple tandem kayaks and have always wanted to try one of these sails. As long as you have proper clips to attach to close to the front of your kayak then it will work. Does it fly through the water? No...but it's nice just to have to play with and give your arms a rest. It serves its purpose. It packs away small and unfolds easily. Its something for my wife to be able to hold on to while I paddle so she can rest. It works for what it's intended and I am happy with it.

Broke the first time out. Got to use it for about 10 seconds before it folded on itself and then the metal broke inside. Was super excited to use this and it failed. Save up for a more expensive/quality sail.*Update - Upgraded review because their customer service is fantastic. I left a one star and they messaged me asking if I wanted a replacement and also requested pictures of the break. I had already thrown away and considered the $ lost. They did a full refund! Even though it broke, I might get another one to give it a second try.

Mi hijo de 14 años me pidió esto y acepte comprarlo porque es un buen nadador, creí que sería muy divertido pero casi ocasiona una desgracia, el aparato fue colocado según las instrucciones por mi esposo, el aparato no duró ni 5 minutos, pero eso no es lo peor, no sé si para fabricarlo no pensaron en usar buenos materiales teniendo en cuenta la fuerza del viento, la confección es tan blandengue y mal hecha que simplemente todo se partió y el fierro salió en forma de cuchilla cortando el cuello y pecho de mi esposo, gracias a Dios no necesito puntadas, pero tendrá una sicatriz por algún tiempo, solo imagínense que hubiera Sido el niño y no mi esposo, seguramente el no habría tenido la habilidad para esquivar los fierros y hubiera terminado en una fatalidad, es extremadamente peligroso, lamento no haber tomado fotos para evitar futuros accidentes, boté todo a la basura sin pensar en que debía hacer reclamo, por favor señores de Amazon verifiquen la calidad de los productos que ofrecen, repito esto pudo haber terminado en una fatalidad, los fierros parecían cuchillas.....NO LO COMPREN y por favor señores de Amazon NO LOS VENDAN SON PELIGROSOS.

I had a complicated time getting this to work. We have an ocean access bayou in the back yard. I paddled about three miles up wind hoping to catch the breeze on the way back and had no luck. It was windy but the sale wouldn’t stay upright and open unless I held it. The straps for connecting it to the kayak just weren’t enough. I felt like I needed an actual mast. Anyways I gave it three stars just in case it didn’t work simply because I suck at sailing and should stick to manpower.

The product is cheaply made. The metal support ripped through the material within minutes. The spring snap hook carabiners did not stay closed. The product was easy to return at no cost to me.

Works good for what I wanted it for. Park my boat in the middle of lake and drift with the wind.
