While the magnetic base on these hooks are actually quite strong, the length of the hook that sticks out creates instability, and that unbalanced leverage just makes them feel weak in practice. I do like that they are divided into two pieces because I'm not sure I would use any of these hooks as intended, but I might use the magnetic bases to secure papers to my fridge. In the picture you can see that I'm balancing a 1lb bag of baking soda on two different hooks. The magnets were able to hold this load, but they felt very insecure and I would not trust these hooks to hold much more than your car keys (assuming you don't have too many on your key ring). Hanging a coat or jacket on these things would really not be viable, but they would probably work for a hat or pair of gloves that had one of those hanging loops. Overall I'm a bit disappointed by these hooks, and I don't think I will use them as intended. The base needs to be much larger in circumference to handle the forces being applied to such a long hook.
