Awesome Game!
I purchased this game on 2/10/2019 and have been playing it every day, sometimes several times a day. This is an awesome game! I hadn't even realized that each of the games in the Forbidden series (Forbidden Island, Forbidden Desert, Forbidden Sky) were a continuation of a central theme that is working towards a finale game to conclude the journey. That takes a lot of thought and foresight, so my hat's off to the creator. With this game in the "Forbidden" line, you're going to need to think in advance. Winging it will most likely end in a loss. So if you like games where you have to think a little bit (not too much, it is a game after all), you'll like this one. Yes, chance plays its part, but you have much more control over how the game is going to go than with the other Forbidden games...at least in my opinion. I know that some people have been giving poor reviews on this game claiming that you're likely to lose much of the time and that the pieces don't fit together well. So far, I haven't found that to be the case. I will say that some foreknowledge and forethought are required. So here are some suggestions to help you to be able to enjoy the game as much as I am:1) Read the instructions thoroughly before playing. Since it has many of the same type of instructions from the previous Forbidden games, there won't be too much new to learn...and don't be surprised if you don't quite understand them completely at that point.2) Go to YouTube.com and look up Forbidden Sky. There are a bunch of videos there that give runthroughs that are tremendously helpful (you can even watch them while waiting to receive your game). I watched the ones by "rahdo." He does make a few mistakes while showing you how to play (which he does point out, and they're nothing major), and he's amusing to watch...and he provides some good hints to help you.3) The quickest way to lose the game is to start connecting the physical cable wires that will go to the rocket...Don't Do That until right near the end of your game! My guess is that with the people who say you lose the game more than 70% of the time do this one mistake on a regular basis. Save it until the end. Hint: if you've set up your game so that a bunch of your lightening rods are next to each other and you know how you're going to run them to complete the circuit, you can wire the lightening rods together...they're already electrified. Same with the Capacitors...you can wire them together and not end up electifying that area as long as you don't hook them up to the lightening rods.4) Do a little bit of planning. a) Don't make the mistake of having all your Capacitors and lightening rods on one side of the game, while your landing pad ends up way off somewhere else where you're unable to connect them all together without a bunch of extra capacitors and/or lightening rods. b) Try to put lightening rods together in a row, as well as the capacitors in a row...as far as how you're going to be hooking them up to complete the circuit to and from the rocketship. c) Try never to waste a turn. This can be somewhat of a challenge as you're juggling between keeping yourself in the safest area you can, while trying to make sure to use tiles that are in your hand to build your board or just get rid of them for the gear cards (which can be a real lifesaver). I know all of that may sound harder than it really is, but once you get the hang of the game, it's a blast...and very addictive. P.S.-for those of you having trouble with connections of the physical circuit so the rocket will fire up, after a while the oil from your fingers can get on the metal connections. Try some rubbing alcohol on a Q-Tip (use caution of course...it is flammable until it evaporates).

Snap circuits meets adventure, strategy and suspense!
We love Forbidden Island, so we got Forbidden Sky for Christmas. It has just enough in common with Forbidden Island to make it familiar, but it is different enough to be fresh and exciting. You and your teammates have to work together to build a platform in space, both connecting copper wires and building a working circuit to escape in the rocket, all the while trying to use your unique skills to survive lightening and high winds. It is definitely 10 and up, but if you have kids who love snap circuits, they will love this game. It is great for team-building: if one of you dies, you all lose the game. It requires strategizing in order to build the platform in such a way to make a proper circuit. Some of the pieces needed a dab of glue as they had come apart, but it was a simple fix. If you're new to the Forbidden series, it may take a few plays to get the hang of the game. There are a lot of different aspects, strengths, and variables to keep in mind as you play, but it's a lot of fun once you "get it". Definitely a high suspense game!

Fun, Cooperative, but a bit gimmicky
Pros:The game is fun playing as a group/pair.The game makes noise and lights up when you win (if it works, see cons list). The game is inexpensive, relative to many others. The game is easy to learn, hard to master.Cons:The game depends significantly on luck - finding the right tiles, not drawing bad effects. The rocket/circuit gimmick doesn't work very well. We couldn't get it to trigger without intentionally shorting out the contacts. I think the resistance of the pieces is too high - maybe I got a bad battery with too low of voltage? DunnoThe game isn't overly exciting. You wait for one player to do their turn, pull effect cards, and repeat. There's a bit of teamwork and communication involved to use your abilities, but isn't that complex. The game seems imbalanced as to the usefulness of character abilities. There are a couple combos that do really well, some others that don't really combo at all.For reference, I have not played the other two games in the series.

Fun but much harder!
As owners of forbidden desert, and forbidden Island, we found forbidden sky to be more complex and harder to win. Played it twice in a row the first time. We played the previous games with our 8 and 6 year kids and did very well. Forbidden sky was much harder with the kids. Still enjoyable, but I think we will have to play several times before we really get this one down. Maybe adults only. Our Rocket works great, and the instructions were easy to understand. I was also bummed it did not come in a tin, but if a tin could damage the rocket the cardboard is just fine. All of our tiles matched up well, no defects in the printing. We will play again!

Challenging and fun as heck!
My husband and I love board games. We love the “forbidden island” and “forbidden desert” games because of their difficulty and replayability. For two adults, it can take a few or many games to win, which we appreciate. It takes cooperation and using the skills your “class” has in each game to get a win. We love that. This game is awesome. It’s challenging and has great payoff when you finally manage to win. We started on “normal” difficulty and it took us a good 10 games to finally work like a well oiled machine and get a win. We like a challenge and something that requires strategy. It’s a game we will reach for all the time, 5 stars!

Great third outing in the Forbidden series
Unlike the previous two games, Forbidden Island Desert, which come in a collectible metal tin, Forbidden Sky comes in a cardboard box. The components are ok and the game is a bit more complex than the other ones, but still fun. Recommended for game night groups
