Strong women in strong roles with a lot of laughs
Whoopi Goldberg & Dianne Wiest are powerful and funny in this film that explores gender roles, sexism and to a lesser degree racism.Whoopi is a talented, top employee at an investment firm, with a young male co-worker that she trained. When she is passed over and the young male is given "her" promotion, she quits to start her own firm.Things don't go so well and she takes on a drastic makeover to break into the male dominated world of high finance.I like that this movie includes a LOT of classic stereotypes....sensitivity to weeping women, stip club deal closings, general denegrating verbal utterings about pms, disparaging secretarial/personal assistant labor.... it demonstrates how ingrained these things are in the actions and language of our culture and challenges the "why ".Don't worry, the movie doesn't take itself too seriously, there are lots of laughs to be had.I love Whoopi for her commanding presence, grace and strength. I LOVE Dianne's character because it shows that a woman can be nurturing, bubbly, sweet and ALSO brilliant, effective and successful.

Great movie to watch
I enjoyed watching this movie it was really great movie to watch on how she opened up her own business and show that women have just as much right as men and women should not be treated different because their sex she showed the man how a woman can't run a business just as good as a man and sometimes better I enjoyed watching this movie thank you very much sincerely WILLIAM TYLER

She's "going to perpetrate a great big whammy!"
This show is the opposite of normal corporate bureaucracy. Whoopi Goldberg and Dianne Wiest have found their ways through the glass ceiling. Both are great in this comedy.

Whoopi at her best
Classic Whoopi, I really love this film there was a time this was showing every other week on Sky. Then I had a movie night at my flat for some friends and I showed this with Men at work and Stakeout some classic 90s movies and it was a wicked night, a couple of beers and pizzas.

Funny, a good watch but not as funny as others.
Jumpin jack Flash definitely more funny than this, but it makes a good point and it shows how far we have come since this was made!!!! A good light hearted movie with a message and has some enjoyable moments for sure.

brilliantly funny!
I saw this film years ago and loved it then, seeing it again met all my expectations and more! It is not only funny and brilliantly witty, but a fantastically clever comment on many social inequalities.
