When we were initially designing invisaWear, the majority of people told our team that they have enough devices to charge and the last thing they want is for their safety device to be out of battery during an emergency because they forgot to charge it. That's why the invisaWear charm was designed to be non-rechargeable. Because the charm is very small and has a really compact design, the battery cannot be safely replaced without replacing the entire charm. The battery typically lasts one year but may last up to two years depending on usage. A replacement charm retails for $65 (almost like $5/month for your personal safety). I have had my daughter test hers when we have gone places and she isn’t by me and you can set up who the charm sends a message to when you double click it **Q: How close do you need to be to your cell phone for this to work? Also, when battery on charm is getting low or dies do you receive a notification?** A: Thanks for your great question! You have to be within Bluetooth range (approx. 30 ft) from your phone. The invisaWear charm works with your smartphone in order to contact up to 5 emergency contacts. Your invisaWear charm device would be using Bluetooth to connect to your smartphone. Upon double pressing your charm, an alert would be sent out to your emergency contacts letting them know you need help and are in an emergency situation along with GPS location. Please be aware that invisaWear must be connected to a cellular device that is within 30 feet of the charm and has either cellular data connection or internet connection. If there is no data connection or internet connection then unfortunately the alert will not be sent out. I use as medical alert. *by B***S on January 14, 2020* Love it! I’m on my second one. I put it on a longer chain if my own and removed the charm so I can wear it under my shirt because I use it as a Medical alert for seizures. I have them under control now but I still wear it to give me more confidence when I’m alone. I turned off the contact 911 function and just have my husband, nearby family and a friend as my contacts. I plan on getting one for my daughter in a few years when she is old enough to be out in her own. After warning my contacts I’ve tested it multiple times to make sure it’s still working and it always works. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good luck if you have technical problems *by L***! on April 7, 2021* This item worked very well until it didn't. It stopped sending the test text messages. E-mails to Invisawear WERE replied to very quickly, but the technical directions sent simply would not work. There seems to be no way to contact the company by telephone. Would suggest you keep this in mind if you are not technically gifted and wise in the way of smart phone hoops to jump through.Update several days later: Invisawear finally called ME, and a VERY patient tech person spent almost 90 minutes jumping through the hoops with me. She did not seem to think that the battery, guaranteed for a year, was dying, and we were able to get the charm up and running again, thanks to her expertise and my following directions. At this point my remaining criticism is why, if we can fly to Mars and wander around up there, can we not put a 5-year battery into a coin-sized charm on earth... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely The Best! *by M***I on October 4, 2018* This is the 3rd one of these I've bought for family members.
