A must read for every woman
This is a great coming of age story. The characters felt realistic and tangible. When I was done reading I felt as if I'd known Mia and her family my whole life. The story was so moving I cried at the end and I rarely ever do that. It felt as if I was right there holding Mia's hand, experiencing everything with her. The way Mia grows and matures is done beautifully. It was wonderful. There where a few spots the pacing was off a little but the character growth and storytelling trumped it by a mile. You and your daughter need to read this book.

Cutely tragic
It was cute, then sad, then over. Not much mystery, suspense or even intense romance. It lacked that spark that connects you to the characters

Beautiful coming of age novel!
This is an impressive coming of age novel. Mia finds herself out of her element after expecting an amazing summer vacation with her cousin, Corinne. Corinne has changed as well as the family dynamic Mia has always envied. Growing up thinking Corinne had the perfect life, Mia now realizes maybe she was mistaken. Between the changes in her cousin, and the realization her aunt may not be as perfect as she'd believed, she can't help but feel thrown for a loop. There is also the ever strained relationship between Mia and her mother. Now Mia finds herself surrounded by girls that are everything she's not. She's struggling with the pressure to conform to fit in, or stay true to herself. Feeling awkward, and alone she gives up the hope of having a good time while on vacation. Then she meets Simon. Now she needs to put her insecurities aside, and give herself a chance to have some fun.A few years have passed since I was a teen, but I still remember the pressure to fit in. The author nailed the emotions with main character Mia. I felt for her. The relationship between Mia and Simon was so sweet. I loved their secret meetings, and deep conversations. Never have I felt such a strong urge to skip to the end of a book, and read the final pages. I had to know what happened between Mia and Simon. I didn't sneak a peek even though I wanted to. I spent the entire afternoon reading, because I could not put this book down. The ending was not at all what I expected. Paint me shocked, and a little broken-hearted! Very few books have had the ability to make me feel so many different emotions. Anger, delight, frustration, and even grief. The Summer of Skinny Dipping is an intense book, with a strong message. A great reminder that life is too short not to take a few risks, and make sure the people you love know you do. The author's writing was beautifully descriptive, and almost poetic at times. I'd recommend this one, but make sure you have a box of tissues handy. You're going to need them. The Summer of Skinny Dipping is a book I'd recommend for not only teens, but also adults searching for a sense of nostalgia. A beautiful book that I highly recommend.

Vapid and pointless
That story started out mediocre enough and since I paid money for it (even though it was a kindle deal) I thought I should try to read it. I was very disappointed to find that all of the characters were quite boring. A mix of two dimensional characters and a story that is slower than a snail super glued to the ground. Now some of you may be thinking that I'm a guy, and I just may not get a story like this. But to you I say Psh! I'm a published romance author, I know good romance, and this isn't it.I made it 60% of the way through the book and the plot hadn't thickened or anything. There was no reason for my to continue. It was all too stereotypical. The main love interest wants to skip out on college and backpack through Europe. I mean, come on, at least make his douchebaggery unique. I cannot recommend this book to anyone. If you want a good romance look elsewhere. If this book is free, don't get it. It'll just take up useful room on your shelf or in your kindle.

Footprints in the Sand
The feeling of the beach and the surf follow you throughout this intriguing read. There are well-developed characters that engaged me in this book and carried me through this summer gathering of friends and family and how they grew in their relationship to each other.

Moving story
I really enjoyed reading this book. Usually I am more into romances, which this was but I usually enjoy more happy endings. This however was very well written and I enjoyed getting to know more about each character. Nothing is black and white. A great story.

Depressing
I like my romances to be of the feel good type. This was just too dark and sad. I would never have bought it had I had any clue as to the type of story it was. Lots of loose ends which the author appeared to be too lazy to tie up.
