I recently used these #8 x 3/4 Inch Phillips Flat Head Black Oxide Screws for a project, and after going through a good portion of the 120-piece pack, I have a clear picture of how they perform. Overall, they are a reliable choice, but they do require a bit of finesse and the right technique to get the best results. Key Takeaways: Predrilling is a Must: My biggest piece of advice is that predrilling is absolutely required. Because these are #8 size screws, they have a bit of thickness to them. If you try to drive them directly into wood without a pilot hole, you run a very high risk of splitting the wood. Taking the extra few seconds to predrill will save you a lot of frustration and wasted material. Mind the Phillips Head: You need to be quite careful when driving these in. If your bit isn't perfectly seated or if you apply too much torque too quickly, it is fairly easy to strip the head. I recommend using a fresh driver bit and maintaining steady, firm pressure to ensure the Phillips slots stay intact. Quality and Aesthetics: The black oxide finish is excellent. It gives the screws a nice black look that blends in perfectly if you are using dark hardware. At this price of $6 at the time of review, this is a great deal and I would definitely use these again
