So i ended up not needing this for its intended purpose, however I have used it to help close knots in embroidery and that works. It seems like it would do it's intended job well. It feels just a *bit* flimsy but how much pressure does it really need to withstand for a job like this?

It works! However, the smallest hook tends to fall out of the handle. I try to tighten it as much as possible but it still slips out. The others are fine though. I use the middle size theost anyway.

This is a great tool to have. Tambour Embroidery is such a distinct craft, but it gives beautiful results. This hook/needle is interchangeable to fit multiple size needs. The holder/handle is sturdy and well made and overall it's just a good tool. If you're interested in trying tambour this is a good tool to start with to see if you like it.

I didn’t order this needle hook kit for embroidery but to help pull back threads while sewing parchment sheets in my work as a conservator of antique scrolls. The handle is small but made of hardwood with a brass head—confirmed by filing it (not aluminum). The hooks fit securely, but the thumbscrew’s clamp-down force on the smallest hook isn’t ideal. In tightly woven fabric, the hook might slide out. Still, for under $7, it’s a decent kit.
