Yes you can. Start in the middle and not on the outside. Don't push down when you get to the top of the swirl or you will indent the icing.

A great beginner pastry tube!

I should have read the description better. I was looking for a small writing type of tip, but this is a very large tip. It doesn't require a coupler and is a couple of inches long.
