Yes, I still love Vaux-le-Vicomte but ...
Rather disappointed in the style of the book. Perhaps I was expecting more large photos along the lines of a 'coffee table' book. Nevertheless, Vaux is still my favourite chateau of all. Many of the photos were magnificent, evocative and with a wonderful touch of melancholy. These were very appropriate to an old chateau which lived through so much: despots, revolution, republicanism, two world wars and the post-modern age.

Return to the 60's
This is a beautiful volume nicely enclosed in a slipcase. I was lucky enough to live very close to this chateau when I lived in France. It was not open to the public then, Several years later,on a trip to the Paris area, I was able to return to Vaux and tour it. It was fall and I was the only guest touring. This book captures the spirit of the place. I'm planning to gift a copy to several friends and fellow francophyles1

Fantastic prep for your visit
This book is a great way to prepare for a real life visit. The photos are beautiful and the text is interesting and engaging. I think I learned more from the book than from the audio tour on site. It also helped me prep my kids for the visit (link to the Musketeers and all.) We all got a lot more out of our visit to The Vaux.
