I am someone that owns Lamson, Sage, etc. and have no problem investing in a $450+ reel and I like nice things. This time I purchased an Echo 2WT rod from my shop and wanted to keep this setup on the low end since I’m using it for small brookie streams. Since I will most likely never need to engage a drag system on a 2WT, I figured I can take a chance on a reel that wouldn’t break the bank. I did my research, and Maxcatch seems to get quite the good reviews. It was CNC machined aluminum, 3.8oz, not even cast aluminum, which you would even see in higher priced brands lower end models. For $40 I ordered it.Well I gotta tell ya, the drag feels excellent, and the quality of the reel is definitely no where NEAR you would think it would be. It’s a really nice, well machined reel, and it’s very light. If you’re concerned with it balancing on your rod, trust me it’s good. Very happy with this purchase and will keep this brand in mind when I am in need of another! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Smaller than expected *by C***X on April 14, 2023* I haven't even put line on here yet - it seems way too small. I ordered the 9/10 expecting to add backing and switch chucker line, but in comparison it seems very small in diameter. It is wide so it might end up being okay but it just looks off. It seems to function very well and hand testing the drag seems great and swapping from L/R took all of 30 seconds. The finish is every bit as good as my (slightly) more expensive reels. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Impressed *by J***N on December 19, 2024* I was shocked how well this reel performed, especially compared to my several hundred dollar top of the line reels.
