## Description

If you have a current set of Zipp wheels, they'll come with the new 188 rear hub. It's the one with the preload collar on the left side. Of course, they are available to fit Shimano/SRAM or Campagnolo, but we don't think your initial choice of freehub body design should lock you into a component group for the life of your wheels. This is why we're offering loose Zipp 188 Freehub Bodies. This way, you're free to choose what components you run on your bike since the freehub bodies are so easy to replace. This body is specific to the 188 hub. If you have the previous Zipp rear hub iteration, the Zipp 182, you need a different body, which we also sell. The 188s have a larger axle diameter. The 188, so named for the weight, is held together with a 2mm pinch bolt that goes into the preload collar on the non-drive side of the hub. Loosen that, and you can pull the axle out from the right side. With the axle out, you can easily pull out the cassette body. Make sure to catch the .25mm washer that goes between the body and hub shell. Zipp makes both Campagnolo-splined and Shimano/SRAM-splined freehub bodies for the 188 hub shell. The .25 mm spacer goes between the body and hub shell in both Campy and Shimano-SRAM. If you are running Campagnolo 11-speed cassette, Zipp recommends putting a second .25mm spacer between the body and hub shell.

This Campagnolo Freehub body allowed me to perform some magic!!!

*by T***R on Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2020*

With the Campagnolo (blue) freehub body for my Zipp 404 rear wheel with 188 V7 (version 7) hub, I was able to convert the wheel from being 10-speed Shimano (with the red free hub body) to 11-speed (again, Campagnolo). BUT, I use this wheel now on a bike with Shimano Di2 11-speed, and it works, from what I can tell, as if it were a wheel with an 11-speed Shimano freehub body -- that's the magic!!! For the record, I learned of this from Lennard Zinn who wrote in VeloNews about this method for converting Zipp's 188 V7 hub (with 10-speed Shimano) to work with a Shimano 11-speed setup. In case one wonders why I did not convert the Zipp 188 hub from Shimano 10-speed to Shimano 11-speed: it's not possible, the V7 of Zipp's 188 hub is not convertible to Shimano 11-speed!!!The Campagnolo freehub body appears authentic and of Zipp quality, and, it appears that all parts were included. There is one review that makes mention of a missing part, and, indeed, that customer may have received an order with a missing part. I was concerned about this when I placed my order. I raise this issue in my review because at first glance, I thought that my order may have had missing a part, but, after a couple of realizations -- which I'll detail below -- I realized that it came with everything that is needed to install this freehub body onto, and have it work properly with, my Zipp 188 V7 hub.Realization #1 about a part not being missing - For the drive (right) side, which is the side of the hub where the freehub body (and cassette) is installed, I thought that the "dust cap shield" may have been missing, as I didn't see it, at first, in the bag in which all the items were packed (with, btw, appropriate grease) -- and the image with the listing of the product shows this item separately (it's the circular blue disc). This dust cap shield, however, was stored inside the freehub body in the place that it goes when installing the freehub body!!! Thus, if you order this product, and don't see the blue dust cap shield, look inside the freehub body on the side without the pawls (the side that will face away from the spokes).Realization #2 about a missing part not being missing - For the non-drive (left) side (which is the side with just the endcap, no freehub body, and no cassette), the procedure for replacing the freehub body on the hub calls for removing a (red) bearing shield on this side. At first, I thought that I was supposed to replace this red bearing shield with a blue-colored (Zipp likes to keep things color coded for clarity with the 188 V7 hub; Shimano freehub body parts are red, Campagnolo freehub body parts are blue). I didn't see a blue-colored bearing shield with my order, so, I wondered whether this part was missing. BUT, I realized that there was nothing that "changed" on the non-drive (left) side of the hub when I replaced the (red) Shimano freehub body with the (blue) Campagnolo freehub body. Thus, it was entirely fine for me to reuse, place back in, the (red) bearing shield that was originally in there.Again, bottom line, I am highly satisfied with this purchase. This part allows me to use again this wheel for my current 11-speed Shimano setup. There are other methods that can allow one to get the same result, but, I believe that the method that I used with this product is the easiest and lowest price approach.
