It's difficult to find a light, volumizing hair gel without harmful ingredients that also does what it claims and doesn't leave your hair feeling gunky. This gel by Giovanni comes about as close as I have found. It adds just the right amount of oomph to my very fine, very thin hair without weighing it down. My only complaint is that it has an overwhelming smell of rubbing alcohol when you squeeze it out of the tube. The smell dissipates quickly and the fact that the product contains alcohol isn't a deal-breaker, but if you are phobic about "hospital smell," this may not be your jam.

EXTREMELY disappointed. I have used this product for years, at least its predecessor. The old one was thick, had to squeez it from the tube. This one runs out like water. The old one stiffened my hair like a board, this one has less than half of the stiff qualities of the old one. My scalp itches all the time and my hair is falling out. New hair grows in so fine that it can hardly been seen and combs out when it is 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. BIG QUESTION : Is this stuff killing my hair follicle ? PEOPLE, ALWAYS READ THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS and buy accordingly.

I've been using a hair thickening gel from Whole Foods for years but it's discontinued. I've tried many kinds of hair thickeners but most make little difference or make my hair stiff with no body. I was so surprised when I tried this product today. My fine, thining hair feels and looks much fuller and thicker and has great body. I'm so happy.

I have baby fine hair, this gives volume when I style my hair. Great product.

That being said, though it works pretty good at holding my 2b curls, I can't shake that it makes my scalp itch. If I were to wash my hair daily, I don't think it would bother me, but as many of you with curls know.. that's a royal pain and I usually wash every other or third day. This really starts to itch and make my scalp flake. The gel itself doesn't flake off of my hair, but after using this for about a year, I'm going to have to try and find something comparable. It's so hard to find a good holding gel that is more natural. Most make my hair feel horribly greasy, and I have relatively dry hair and a super dry scalp.

Very strong hold. If applied when hsurvis wet, the hair maintains a wet look which I happen to like.

Controls fizz and makes hair manageable.

Great! Only a small amount needed. Made my hair 'fuller' without the accompanying crunchiness texture you get from mousse. Will buy this on repeat
