Creating Concrete Art Furniture

I liked how the photos and diagrams were put in the book, they were very helpful and unlike other books, they didn't distract.

I ordered this book because I've become interested in the process of sculpting with concrete. There is so little information out there! I read this two times, from cover to cover, in one sitting. I currently sculpt with metal, so this book just helped everything fall into place. By watching a project unfold, I was given insight into timing projects, possible disasters, and the vast potential of this medium. This was money well spent, and I can't wait to get into the studio and start playing.

I bought this book for my Dad to look through for ideas, instead the book only focused on making the (albeit awesome) table on the cover. There are 2 pages of other ideas in the back of the book, some of which were incredible, but it assumed you would know how to make them just by looking at the table's instructions.

Great book!Very visual for all those visual learners!Obtain the tools and little supply and you can create works of art!Even if you don't want to weld your forms you can have it done at a minimal cost through your local welder and 'Bobs Your Uncle!'Don't wait start today! you'll be happy you did!

I am interested in learning more about sculpting with concrete, but found the book limited and redundant. I thought the work was well done, but I did not care for it or find it especially interesting. Like the cover photo, I'm not sure what it is by looking at it, and it's not balanced in form. The techniques described could be extremely time consuming. Sculpture, of course, is a labor of love, but no reason to drag out certain procedures where you could achieve the same effect, same quality with simpler techniques. Just didn't jive with me. I guess I just didn't care for the work for the most part. It's well explained though and well illustrative, and I think a beginner could utilize it as well.

excellent book, takes you step by step (with plenty of pictures) all the way through one project, from conception through final finishes. explains all tools, materials and processes. got one for myself and another for a gift.

The book has good illustrations on how to create the piece of furniture on the front but only shows how to make one product. If you already have a basic understanding of concrete furniture or art then dont get this it is very basic. I was hoping to see some more variety of furniture to get some inspiration for future projects but apart from the small picture of the coat hanger in the back the rest of the furniture is absolutely hideous!! I'm sure you can apply the techniques to suit your own style but if you have some sort of an understanding of how to make concrete furniture or is looking for inspiration then this is not for you.
