Guitar All-in-One For Dummies: Book + Online Video and Audio Instruction Paperback – August 11, 2014

Slow starting, but once you get going it's like a steam-roller! Quick learning makes guitar fun to play. I find myself picking up the book and the guitar and getting on the computer almost every day. The play-a-longs let you know what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong. I find myself flipping from book to book to learn different pieces. I pick up a bit of guitar, then I pick up a bit of music theory...it's great to have both in the same combined edition.

This is not just one book, it's six Guitar for Dummies books all packaged in one book. If you know nothing about playing guitar, this will get you going. If you know how to play but you would like to expand your repertoire and learn some other styles, this is the book you need. If you want to dive into music theory to better learn the craft of songwriting, this book will do the trick. If you don't play guitar and don't want to learn but you think guitars are kind of neat....well, there are some pictures in here you might like to look at. Basically, I can't think of too many people who wouldn't find something useful in this book.

The jokes aren't funny but the author did a great job putting them where needed. The book encouraged me to buy accessories for my guitar (that I hate and think is really ugly) so that I can read this book. I might even end up buying a new guitar. A very costly "after effects". Fortunately, all of the guitars that I find nice are sold out at the moment.Since I know nothing about music types (ex: what's the difference between jazz and blues?) I kind of get confused few times while reading it and makes me google some stuff.The book isn't boring or really confusing until it starts to split part of a section into acoustic / electric / classical guitars. I don't even know what "Classical" guitar is. But I can just flip pages until it says things about my favorite type of guitar.I read about 50 pages today at work without stopping. I read half of book when I first got it, but I forgot everything since I never touched the guitar while I was reading it. So, I decided to read it with a guitar.Don't expect awesome stuff outside of the book (like the online stuff. Even cheatsheet webpage has ads).

Outstanding Book. I use Kindle Cloud online. By reading the book on the computer, you can easily click on figures and links during your reading. This is self learning at its best. Read the book and keep your guitar in your lap. It's fun to read and play during your reading session. You do not need to spend your money on guitar lessons out in town. I also go to U-tube and research lessons futher, if I didn't understand it in the book. Have fun.

I bought a family member a guitar at Christmas and wanted to give them a lesson book to get started. They are already a musician so I was a bit worried about giving this book but it had very good reviews. They have found it super helpful!

This book is okay, and it teaches you alot. But I have always been a virtual/ hands on learner so I only read the first 10 pages and went online to watch videos to learn how to play. If you want to learn songs fast, easy, and get feed back while playing the songs, download Yousician and read this book after practice everyday.

Great condition and just what this dummy needs .

As a beginner, i love this book. Like all For Dummies, very cool, very well written, nice pace and extremely informative. I almost bought Guitar for Dummies and Rock Guitar for Dummies, but saw this 6-in-1 for less than the price of those two. I have started Guitar, Rock and Theory... they couldn't be more motivational if you are interested in the big picture of what the guitar is all about. Great book.My only complaint is that it'd be nice if it was spiral bound and sat flat...
