I had two large leather chairs ( previously beige then painted two yrs ago with grey but after my dogs had battered them they needed a refresh I chose a dark blue . It goes on easily I applied with a washing up sponge ( without scourer ) thin layers. I bought a large bottle as I needed to cover 2 large chairs front and back although I still have enough to another two chairs ! So it would probably cover an average three piece or a five seater modular . Durability seems good it’s been over two weeks and I have four dogs on and off it all day and night and haven’t seen any change so far , so with normal use it would not have any issues at all. The sofas both look like new and it was very reasonable to buy. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent result, but desparately needs safety guidelines. *by A***T on 17 July 2017* I used the 500 ml black leather colourant with matte finish to recolour a red leather chair, which I believe is made of protected leather (see pictures attached). I did not know what to expect from this product, since I have never worked with leather before. The result was amazing, but I took off one star because the product lacks any relevant safety information. Updated chemical hazard pictograms would be really useful, since I have no idea what other additives the recolourant contains. The product is not too runny and gives off a slight smell of mascara. It is easy to work with such consistency, since it is enough to protect the floor with a few newspapers. The product dries really quickly, I did not need to apply a hairdryer. The recolourant will not smooth out any cracks, but it will completely hide discolouration and will give overall "fresher" look, since the colour will become uniform. The process: After reading some online advices on the topic, I followed these steps: - clean the leather with mild dishwasher soap - mask wooden parts and studs with masking tape (I used TESA yellow masking tape) - prep leather with generous amount of acetone - apply VERY THIN layers of recolourant with the normal dishwashing sponge. Repeat this process 3-5 times, depending on your patience level. - take off the masking tape - use the tiniest paintbrush (and enormous patience) to apply colour around studs and medium brush to dye inside the hard-to-reach places. - For extra protection I used the https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00EONSX1W/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2 but I believe it is not mandatory. Notes: - 500 ml is WAYYY too much for a chair like mine. 250 ml would have been fine if you want to be on the safe side. - Protect studs and woodwork before applying prep. It is almost impossible to get it off once the colourant is dry. Also, it is not that easy to wipe off the studs without touching freshly painted leather parts, so I suggest either taking off studs beforehand, or using a paintbrush. - the thinner your first layer is, the better overall result will look like.
