Does the job splendidly
Great quality coverage . I had two large leather chairs ( previously beige then painted two yrs ago with grey but after my dogs had battered them they needed a refresh I chose a dark blue . It goes on easily I applied with a washing up sponge ( without scourer ) thin layers. The dry time was very quick but I did apply in the garden on a hot day , itโs slow progress but I then used a brush (large artist acrylic brush ) this was much easier and quicker ! I did not get any brush strokes , not sure if that was because I used a dark blue ( and it is very dark , but thatโs ok I loved it ) it was also needed to get in the nooks and crannies. Bear in mind it drys quite sticky so can stick the cushion to the arm of the chair ( I found out after it dried ) so I will need a few touch ups ( no biggi ) I suggest if doing a whole chair / sofa with attached cushion leave the sides ( where cushion meets arms until last then either sit on it until it drys or try and weight it so it doesnโt stick. I bought a large bottle as I needed to cover 2 large chairs front and back although I still have enough to another two chairs ! So it would probably cover an average three piece or a five seater modular . Durability seems good itโs been over two weeks and I have four dogs on and off it all day and night and havenโt seen any change so far , so with normal use it would not have any issues at all. Good solution to my tatty chairs ๐ฅณ

From old to new
Amazing results thank you. I was very impressed. Paint quality was better than expected and filled in scratches very well. The sofas both look like new and it was very reasonable to buy.

Excellent result, but desparately needs safety guidelines.
I used the 500 ml black leather colourant with matte finish to recolour a red leather chair, which I believe is made of protected leather (see pictures attached). I did not know what to expect from this product, since I have never worked with leather before. The result was amazing, but I took off one star because the product lacks any relevant safety information. Updated chemical hazard pictograms would be really useful, since I have no idea what other additives the recolourant contains. The product is not too runny and gives off a slight smell of mascara. It is easy to work with such consistency, since it is enough to protect the floor with a few newspapers. The product dries really quickly, I did not need to apply a hairdryer. The recolourant will not smooth out any cracks, but it will completely hide discolouration and will give overall "fresher" look, since the colour will become uniform. The process: After reading some online advices on the topic, I followed these steps: - clean the leather with mild dishwasher soap - mask wooden parts and studs with masking tape (I used TESA yellow masking tape) - prep leather with generous amount of acetone - apply VERY THIN layers of recolourant with the normal dishwashing sponge. Repeat this process 3-5 times, depending on your patience level. - take off the masking tape - use the tiniest paintbrush (and enormous patience) to apply colour around studs and medium brush to dye inside the hard-to-reach places. - For extra protection I used the https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00EONSX1W/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2 but I believe it is not mandatory. Notes: - 500 ml is WAYYY too much for a chair like mine. 250 ml would have been fine if you want to be on the safe side. - Protect studs and woodwork before applying prep. It is almost impossible to get it off once the colourant is dry. Also, it is not that easy to wipe off the studs without touching freshly painted leather parts, so I suggest either taking off studs beforehand, or using a paintbrush. - the thinner your first layer is, the better overall result will look like. If you rub to the point that you end up with slightly shaded leather and a dry sponge, you are doing it right.

What you should know for your first project :)
I've used TLC products on a good few items over time, and they're very good provided you abide by a few rules, so I thought I'd pop up a review so you get things right and you're not disappointed. If you're not keen on essays, keep scrolling :D but it might help a few first-timers. Prep work is literally your priority - before you even open the bottle. If you attempt to use any dye product, including this, on a surface that has even a trace of oil from your fingers, dust, dirt, left over residue from a cleaning product...it's going to result in problems from patchy cover, peeling and rubbing off. Cleaning the surface does not mean wiping it clean. It means going in with a toothbrush if you have to and scrubbing every square inch clean with a degreasing cleaner. When it's dry, hoover it....and then hoover it again. After that, you absolutely have to use a product that completely removes residue, especially oils - treat the leather in exactly the opposite way to how you know to care for it; i.e. you want it as dry as possible. It'll make you scream but I actually use nail varnish remover sometimes (which is just awful to do but the reality is most of my items are pretty destroyed if I need to dye them). Alcohol based cleaners evaporate as you wipe them over and leave the surface porous and dry - perfect for soaking up a product such as a dye. So remember - cleaning is not enough. If you slap a dye on without degreasing it, hoovering it manically and using an alcohol based product last, then you're going to be disappointed. The dye will just rub off - in days rather than weeks. When you're applying the dye, you'll need 4 coats minimum if you're drastically changing colour. Apply it evenly and don't try and get full coverage on the first application. Leave it for at least 4-6 hours between coats regardless of how quickly it appears to dry. Don't touch it, don't touch up areas, make sure it's not being used or subject to dust flying around. Once you're satisfied with the coverage on your last coat LEAVE IT ALONE for 24 hours!! But the single most important thing is that you seal it. It doesn't matter if a dye has a sealant within it...you're going to need a topcoat. Don't expect this dye to stay in place without purchasing a sealant also. This brand has a decent quality one so if you're reading this review and thinking of purchasing - search for TLC leather dye sealant also and pick up a bottle along with it. Sealing is the same process as dying; 4 coats minimum, 4-6 hours between coats regardless of whether it looks as though it's dried within 2. Once you've a satisfactory coating LEAVE IT ALONE for 24 hours!! Hope that helps you - if you're obsessive with your prepwork, you'll have a really good quality coverage that'll last. If you don't, your item will begin to peel, the product will rub away and you'll be left with disaster. Good luck!!! :D

So-So. Expectations Will Differ. I'm Modestly Happy With the Result
I used this to change the colour of a chesterfield settee (leather 3 seater) from red to black. As others suggest and guides instruct I removed the top surface of the original colourant by washing it and wiping with acetone before I added the new colourant. 1) The black colourant was easy to apply with a sponge. Took 3 coats to fully cover the original red finish. 2) I expected the new black colourant to rub off a little. This has happened. 3) Though I was careful to not spill any liquids onto the new black surface I had an accident with a glass of rum and I had an absentmindedly used a cleaning agent on one of the arms. Both stripped off the black colourant. 4) To date, there has been no flaking so I expect this is because I cleaned the surface before I added the colourant. I expected I would need to colour the settee again once the first black coating had settled and begun to rub off. After the next coat I will finish with a separate sealant. This is the first time I've used this type of product to recolour leather. This product has coated and worn in the way I expected it to do. Be aware you will probably need to apply 3 initial coats, let it wear for a month then reapply with a proper surface sealant on top. And do not spill rum on it (whiskey didn't seem to bother the colourant -- wasn't me this time).

Worked very well for me fantastic stuff
Item as described and good postage time. Well i looked at the reviews and most were good so went with it. I truly wish I'd taken a before & after picture but I totally forgot. This has worked an absolute treat trust me. My wife went over the cracked area on the sofa and it also had small parts were the leather was gone. 1 application and was all done so simple to use the coverage was excellent. The color is only slightly off our light cream sofa so my wife did her full cushion and now looks great. I really don't know why some people say it didn't work ?? For me absolutely great. And like I said I really wish I'd remembered to do before & after pics to prove it works. Thank you so much

Great product does what it says
I decided to leave my review for a while but it is now a year since I used this product. It has absolutely surpassed all expectations. Easy to use and it brought what was my cream (beigey) looking sofas back to their original colour and lustre. After a whole year scratches and scuffs still covered and it has not cracked or faded. My sofas live in a very hospitable home with lots of visitors and they have lasted brilliantly. One large bottle did both 2 seater sofas with a tiny bit to spare! 100 % recommendation from me, great product and fantastic value!

Great results!
This product is great. I bought 1000mls in light cream and painted my buttermilk sofas plus 2 dining chairs and still have some left. Ive also bought dark blue and changed the other dining chairs to this colour. It has saved me a lot of money in not having to buy new sofas. 1st pic is before with the rug on it and 2nd is after 3 coats.
