Awesome Pocket Light
I bought this light to replace my Mag Solitaire. The Solitaire produced only 2.3 lumens, so this light is a big upgrade at 90 lumens and only fractionally larger. The tail switch has a good feel, and conveniently allows momentary-on like an awesome tactical light should. The description doesn't lie about the short battery life though. I use a Rayovac NIMH in my light, and it will go completely dark after about 40 minutes of continuous on time. But just using the light around the house for general tasks amounts to recharging the battery about once every 1 - 3 days. The performance of the light is just stunning for it's size when used outdoors at night. Everyone I've shown it to has been impressed, and some even thought it was ridiculously bright. (Of course any flashlight aficionado knows there's no such condition as "ridiculously" or "too" bright.) This flashlight seems just about equal to my TerraLUX Lightstar 220 on the low setting of 100 lumens. This pocket key-chain light casts a bit larger circle of light though. It shines decently far, is good for illuminating a large area, and has the light-saber effect when pointed at the night sky. It gets pretty warm after just a couple minutes of use.It has a nice machined finish, and a good feel in your hand, but just doesn't quite feel rock-solid like it could be trusted for rough use. Personally, I am scared that it will break if I drop it on a hard surface. I've not dropped it, and don't plan to, but I get the feeling it simply won't fare well if I ever do. I removed the lanyard since it was just in the way. The only thing I don't like is that you can't really use it as a key-chain light because the hole where the lanyard was is too small and too close to the power button to allow a key-chain through. So you shouldn't expect to actually use it as a key-chain. I would certainly recommend you get this light just because it is awesome to play with if you like flashlights, and is quite useful as a tool as long as you don't drop it and you have plenty of AAA batteries.Pros:Pleasingly bright, perfectly shaped beam of light.Momentary-on tail switch.Great spare carry light.Cons:Short battery life that ends abruptly.Feels breakable.Anti-roll feature doesn't work. Can't be easily used as a key-chain.

Bright - yes, but finicky operation
When I first bought this flashlight, I was in love with it. It was as bright as a 12v spotlight, but took up little room in my pocket. However, after a few weeks' use, it began to act-up on me. Sometimes, it doesn't turn on reliably and I have to push the on/off button partially down a few times to get it to turn on. Once in a while, I even have to twist the front or back screw to get it to work, and this is really annoying when it happens because it eliminates the convenient one-hand operation. However, the problem isn't so bad that I stopped using the light; I still tolerate these flaws. (Also, I noticed they happen less frequently with a fresh battery.)As for battery life, I would say it's all right considering how bright the light is. A new AAA will be VERY, VERY bright, and after a couple of hours, it's still certainly bright enough for common tasks. With daily use of a maybe 3-20 minutes, I might replace the battery every month or two.Concerning the lanyard, I wear men's size medium gloves, and I have to squeeze my hand inward to get the loop around my wrist, but once I do, it doesn't fall off. The lanyard seems thin, but I wear it around my wrist and swing it around all the time, and the string has held strong. As for durability, it seems to be good solid metal construction. I've dropped it a few times, and aside from a crack in the lens, it's fine. (The crack doesn't affect performance.)If it weren't for the finicky push-button on/off switch on the back, I'd highly recommend this. If you have a little patience, it still could be a good flashlight for you, but I'm looking into some pocket flashlights from Nu-Flare to see if they work better for me.

Overall- Great light!
I was a little undecided about this when it first arrived, as it's advertised as a "pocket key chain size" light. Pocket I get but key chain size?? Maybe if you have a survival key chain that is super-sized! See photo. It's cool that it runs so bright on a AAA battery that I really liked. I tested this against my Streamlight nano and my Inova microlight key chain flashlight. I was surprised at how close they were in lighting ability. The CREE is brighter for longer distances, but for key chain size the Inova and Nano are both great options! The lanyard umm not my choice on a quality flashlight, (short chain w/carabiner for pocket) but saves money I guess along with the plain box, but who cares? It's the light that's important right? For the money the light truly holds it's end of the bargain. Hope durability is not an issue in future, if so, contact CREE it's a known company I can't see them not standing behind it. The beefy metal housing is great, no fear of dropping it and damaging it. And love the button, so many have switched to lights you turn or twist on, which also twist on in your pocket!! You really have to push to get it to turn on, so no worries about accidentally switching it on. Mine says "Romisen rc-F7" on it's side. As far as the hundreds of feet of distance, mine did good at about 100' which is good enough for this size and battery power.Bottom line: Quality made bright little pocket light, fits perfectly in my survival tin or pocket. It's a keeper! The lanyard ??probably not!
