I bought one of these as a gift last March and now discover that it has never worked. Complete waste of money- can i get a replacement or refund?

Hi. I think you wrong,I was thinking same, putting on sun and no charge or etc...takes about 15 h to charge in sun and 20h plugged . Is not charging straight away in 2 h like a simple phone. Just try and let me know. I'm talking about different brand which I used once ,I said didn't work etc and today just played with it and that's the way they work. Let me know.

How long would it take to charge on sunlight?

Judging by my test, about a century. Had it in direct sun for three days and didn’t even get past 25% (one LED indicator). Also tried in direct sun for six hours and it stored enough to add 3% to my phone

How do you know when it’s charging from solar light? Is there a light?

Yes there is a light. On the side opposite the hinge are 5 small holes which are LEDs. The top 4 show the amount of charge and are all coloured blue when on and the battery fully charged. The 5th one down is coloured green and lights up when the solar panels are opened and there is sufficient daylight to charge the battery, when not on no solar charge is taking place.
