Review: Great as a cream sauce base! - Ok, I saw this and instantly thought “quick sauce base!” And it was a great idea! I’ve made this a bunch of times now and the basic recipe goes like this: brown any combination of garlic PLUS, onions, shallots, green onions, in a heavy pan, in a mixture of 1/2 olive oil and 1/2 butter until they were DEEP GOLDEN BROWN, verging on BLACKENED over medium heat. Next add 1/2 lb of uncooked Cleaned and deveined large shrimp and cooked until just barely done (translucent) or (about 1/2-3/4 lb seafood shellfish of your choice.) Then added any or all of the following: chopped sun dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, capers, asparagus tips, The CAN OF SHRIMP SOUP, and heated it till bubbly. Pour the mixture over the oiled, al dente cooked pasta of your choice and toss with lots of fresh basil and Romano & Parmigiana Cheese. Quick and SO DELICIOUS!! Make extra because it’s BETTER TO NEXT DAY. It’s even good as a cold summer salad! Experiment with all different kinds of seafood/shellfish. Even canned clams taste great. Same with veggies. Just make sure that they are at least partially pre cooked before adding because the cooking time for everything else is so short! Makes an impressive meal for last minute guests! Ok, I saw this and instantly thought “quick sauce base!” And it was a great idea! I love this product! I use this as a base for my seafood bisques. I usually add it to a thick white sauce for volume, along with butter, milk, dill, and other seasonings to taste. Its got a subtle flavour when added to white sauce, but if you want a stronger flavour, use 2 cans and no white sauce. I make alfredo sauces for fetticinno if the dish has seafood. most recently I used it as a base for a seafood pie that I covered with cheddar Bay biscuit topping and it came out absolutely excellent.!! a versatile product!!
