I think for a horse with medium or low withers it would be perfect as even though it gives extra room for the withers it isn't enough for a large horse with high withers in my experience. Might have worked with a slightly smaller horse with high withers though but on my 16.2hh fit TB/Irish Sporthorse it was a bit tight.
